  1. That burger looks fantastic. One thing with tric, forgot the formula, deep freeze kills it. Colder the temp the shorter the length in the freezer.
  2. Last yr we had our first frost on Sept 19th. This morning was close at 37°. Long range forecast doesn't look like my area is getting one anytime soon. That frost always gets me a little more excited about the upcoming season.
  3. Doesn't matter. Livestock is livestock. People make money from selling, breeding cattle, that's ok, but deer inst? No, people are not spending money to hunt cattle, but they still make money from the sale. I see no difference.
  4. Not feeling it. I've shot deer with my 4.5x14 as close as the bottom of my ladder stand to 300yrds. Not big on running shots. I could see still hunting really think areas where your shot is under 50 yards. I'd say 80% of my rifle deer were in the red dot range, but 3 of my biggest bucks would have been difficult with a red dot and 1 about impossible.
  5. There one issue. The web site asks you to pick the model to get the proper firmware. For some reason, fusion isn't listed. They have pictures next to the model numbers, and nothing matches my cam including the model numbers listed.
  6. I've got a stealth cam fusion cell cam. It will be my third season running this cam. I reactivated the cam couple weeks ago. Seemed to work fine for the first few days. Since then it will not transmit photos. Pulling the card shows lots of pics not sent. Called CS. On hold for over a hr. Decided to call first thing next morning. This time I get the same message while on hold, but now they are offering to leave your # and they will get back to you. So instead of holding I leave my #. It's been 8 days. Nothing... I've tried calling several times, and I was on hold for over two hrs Monday with zero results. My tactacams have been flawless. Last stealth cam product I'll ever purchase.
  7. The hunting operation? I know the breeding operation is his, but I don't recall him saying he owns the hunting operation. Could be wrong, it happens..
  8. Without going through 14 pages, did he ever say it was his place?
  9. I like the authentic droopy ear. Great work as always.
  10. Schodack is in Rensselaer county. Only 20 minutes from me. Dec article doesn't mention Columbia county, thankfully. Lower Columbia county was hit hard last yr.
  11. Everyone has a limit of what they are comfortable with. I'd never pay for a hunt like that, but if I was invited to try and take a deer like FS is describing, I'd be all over it. No I wouldn't have it mounted or brag about killing it, I'd be upfront about my experience, wether it turned out to be a challenge, or as you think a Bronx zoo hunt. Hell, I shoot squirrels off my bird feeder, don't brag about it but they still taste good.
  12. I can go on a camping/hunting trip in the daks anytime I want. A free hunt, even if it's a high fence, I'm in. Just seeing the operation, some huge bucks would be worth the experience. If I was lucky enough to shoot the target buck, great.
  13. They sure looked real, lol. Thought from the pic you were still using horses. Watched a show yrs ago about logging with horses. It's definitely not a easy operation.
  14. Even if you don't succeed, it's a free hunt. Enjoy it and you never know, you might get lucky. Hey FS, you obviously have a pic of the target buck. Care to share?
  15. Looks like those rivets go through the stock.
  16. Tell me more about getting firewood out with a team or horses. Looks like they are hooked up to a hell of a load of log length.
  17. IF either one backs out, they will definitely take some flack. More so FS as it's obvious most on here are not keen on that type of hunting, but chef opened his trap, and was called out. Ball is in chefs court. I predict chef will back out, or just stop responding.
  18. Both have drawn the line in the sand. I do think FS's offer is legit and sincere, and willing to have chef try for the target buck. I'm not as confident chef will step over the line and man up. I hope he does. I also hope he has a fantastic time wether or not he takes the target buck. I think a lot of us would be interested in his experience. Question for you FS.. will chef be on his own, or will you or someone be there to semi gide him?
  19. I've got 3 separate flocks around my house. 1 is 4 hens that have no poults. The 2nd has 8 poults that are just about the size of mom. The last flock has 2 hens with about 12-14 poults. Some are around half the size of mom and the rest slightly larger than a partridge.
  20. I got my first pic of a bear last fall. Actually spotted a bear this spring on the same property, and the first day I put my cams out last week, on the same property, I got a pic of a bear sniffing my cam. Hopefully one of us gets a crack at him this season. All the corn on neighboring properties are in the process of being cut, so a good portion of his food supply is about to disappear.
  21. I took bills post as he was being sarcastic towards lands1 post as being surprised you have a bear issue by joking about high fence turkey hunts.
  22. Lol, I'm fairly certain he's not shooting bears illegally and posting them on a open forum. Don't need nuisance tags to kill predators. Legal in NY to kill predators that are after you livestock.
  23. Not sure if this is part of bidens infrastructure bill or just some law that's been introduced, but I read somewhere that all new vehicles must be speed limited to states max speeds. I just don't see this passing. We all know the State doesn't really give a shit about it citizens, but does care about money coming in and less tickets means less money.
