Always. I switch to the red setting while setting up in a tree. I’ve walked past deer in the woods with my headlamp and they don’t freak and run they just watch. Last year second day of gun 3 of us with headlamps walked past a deer at 7yrds.

Just got word my nephew missed a big one this morning.

Won’t be in stand in the morning but plan is to get up and drive around see if I can get eyes on a shooter going back to bed. Bow will be in the car just in case I get a chance or right setup for a spot and stalk.

That’s why I’m excited for tomorrow have those conditions lining up for my area.

Only sat for 2 hrs but did get eyes on the smaller 8 from last Sunday again. Came out at about 80yrds at last light. Good start to the year for me. 4 sits 3 bucks I would be willing to shoot.

Can’t wait for Saturday hoping forecast stays like it is. I have been watching a thicket that holds good deer every year and Saturday evening I have the perfect conditions to sneak into the swamp and hopefully arrow one of the big ones. it’s been 2 years of waiting for the perfect early season cold front and wind to get in there.

I would put a hang on in or use a climber and catch him off guard. Unless that stand by the blue dot is within range of his trail. If it is I would be there tomorrow morning.

Yea I have an electrician coming in to look and Nyseg coming to check the their side. No reason for me to be paying this much. KW/hr day is 12 cents night is 7. I’ve tried getting Nyseg to work with me and they always give me the run around. So I’m sure it’s going to be like pulling teeth.

I don’t know but the guy who came today to speak with us said we are drawing equivalent to a business. Just insane the prices we are paying. $3-500/month with no heat or AC on in a 1400sq house with timers on hot water tank and all appliances new within the last year and a half. We have an electrician coming to check the house and trying to get Nyseg to come check to make sure we aren’t pulling to much. waiting on a forester to come give me an estimate and clear an acre of woods for panels hopefully.

Fox is probably playing. They used to run around and jump after my atv driving through meadows. They are pretty playful animals.

Sick and tired of NYSEG and their extreme prices and poor customer service. Looking to install solar to my roof of the house. Anybody in CNY that’s used anyone? I’m between Binghamton and Utica. Cost me a bunch up front but will pay for itself quickly with what I’m paying Nyseg currently. thanks for the info.

Went and grabbed my stand and put a camera where those bucks came out yesterday. Bunch of beech trees dropping nuts found a rub from last night is my guess. Field was full of night beds and could see where the deer or something walked through in the dew. Made a mock scrape and hung a camera. Have north wind expected for next Saturday and a high of 48. Forecast keeps that way I’ll be back up hoping one of those bucks pop back out.

What do you think these are. Smaller one I’m guessing 2.5-3.5 the other I was guessing 5.5+

Well everything worked out minus the big boy closing the last 50yrds. Had to coyote howl to get them off the field so I could sneak out. Have to go back in the morning after kids get on the bus to pull my setup since it’s on stateland. they came out at 515 and fed from 125-83 and wouldnt make that final commitment. this will add two more shooters to my list. I haven’t seen these 2 yet. I thought it was one I’ve seen when they stepped out but I haven’t laid eyes on either one of them possibly the smaller one but not the big one. Watched them knock tines a few times but pretty much pigged out for 2 hrs straight.

Just got home from Critz farm which if you’ve never been it’s a nice place near cazenovia for the family. Getting dressed and heading to a clover field on some state land. for the last couple hours.

Morning hunt I didn’t see a thing this afternoon snuck into a swamp and the only thing that came out was a giant fisher. as long as we get back from a family outing in time tomorrow morning I’ll be back out over a clover field.

Heading back out here shortly. Have a decent walk in and I need to take my time setting up my stand since I’m just outside the bedroom in the first cluster of white oaks. plus if the deer around me repeat from yesterday they will be on their feet early today.
