  1. If you need the name of the lady to helped me PM and I'll pass it along
  2. Not compared to a chunk of 460grain lead conical
  3. Is that your shot data taped to the stock. Might it be a bestill creations build ?
  4. Just a friendly reminder to not shoot smokeless powder out of a production muzzloader. Customs builds are a different breed. I like T7 from 70-100 grains on most of my smokers. My white muzzloaders sure like Swiss but that's getting hard to find. It's expensive but BH209 shoots great to in that 70-100 grain amount. For the guys shooting three pellets, I highly recommend trying loose to see if you can find the sweet spot with less of a charge. For the guys shooting power belts, I wish you the best, it's a very poorly constructed bullet when pushed fast. For conicals I like 460grain no excuses and 350grain FPB and if using sabots Speer 300 grain deep curl and 300grain non Mag xtp in a crush rib sabot
  5. Thank god, that saved me the head ache of hearing the warden say another scope.
  6. To funny, he's said the same to me. It works as its close to my house in Latham
  7. Yes, Ray off beach rd, I have no complaints been using him for years. For the price he can't be beat . As said above , Chester is good but man he is high. I seem to think I get alot back, my deer was 120 gutted and I got two big boxes of meat back. Did he tell you he's done after this year but 99% sure son and friends will be doing it next year . Steve
  8. Plan B in Clifton park 85 bucks ...who did you end up using
  9. How is Melvin doing, I'll have to drop him a line. I haven't spoken to him in a bit . All good scopes mentioned, I'm surprised not more love for Nikon or weaver. I have a un mounted weaver grand slam that has the sweetest glass . All my Nikon's serve there purpose and hold a zero true. I guess it comes down to budget. I wouldn't put a konus on a Melvin built gun but I would put a trijicon or a kahles on one .
  10. Buy most of my guns from Zach's ...it's the town of colonie whose not a fan of bass/ cabelas coming . The other 11 gun stores in capital district are owned by the same guy .
  11. Browning is sending a replacement asap no questions asked , they said keep the damaged one and run it until it dies. Can't say enough about their top notch customer service. Now I just hope the water issue is fixed, third times the charm.
  12. I'm on my second browning strike force HD pro camera that's taking in heavy water damage. Cam is still in use taking photos until the temps freeze up. I'm currently working with browning on an exchange, I can't say enough about their customer service. Top notch no questions asked. Aside from the water issue it's been a nice camera for day and night pics.
  13. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/articles/do-i-need-the-blackhorn-breech-plug-for-my-cva-muzzleloader/ I never understood why they just wouldn't sell it with the BH capable plug.
  14. Damn auto correct, many drill the cva plugs out and add a vent liner much like savage to ignite bh209.
  15. CVS sells a plug to ignite bh209. How are you determining if it's tapered?
  16. Good to hear, I was going to call to clarify. Chester is good very high. I use a guy in Clifton park if you need a plan B let me know
  17. Chester died last I heard ? That's why the store closed.
  18. Wood, every scratch and wear mark has a story behind it with character.
  19. Fisher for sure,we are seeing lots more of them and a big decline in porky's..
  20. Please be careful in that RUM, to my knowledge Remington has stated that BH209 is NOT an approved propellant . Only pellets are approved ...
  21. I'm a big fan of a .452 300 grain non Mag hornady xtp in a crush rib sabot . Other bullets in that same sabot I like are the hornady ftx bullets . If you can find the Speer .454 deep curl in 300 grain that's a very hard to bullet to beat. The shock wave, sst,SmackDown and one other bullet are the same bullets all made by hornady with different ballistic tips. Depending on if it's bonded bullet and velocities they can be good choices . You can't go wrong with the Barnes line of bullets but your paying a hefty penny. If shooting a conical I like the hornady 350 grain fpb. I'm a big fan of bull shops and no excuses 460 grain lead conicals. Thor makes a premium full bore conical that gets great reviews too. I'm not a power belt fan at all, I know they are accurate but they have about the worst expansion going. Part of the issue people push them to fast . Most all my charges are 80-90 grains of triple 7 but I do use bh209 on occasion from time to time.
  22. What speeds are you talking, you could switch to the mag xtp. I forget what hornady recommended to me, I think 1200 fps was there cut off before suggesting to use the Mag bullet in a muzzloader. I'd have to confirm that with my notes later.
  23. Sure https://www.harvestermuzzleloading.com/index.php/products/crush-rib-sabots/item/48-50-cal-crushed-rib-sabot-for-451-452-cal-bullet https://www.cabelas.com/product/Hornady-reg-Caliber-Diameter-Pistol-Bullets/740743.uts?slotId=9 Buying bullets in bulk with sabot and bullet separate is way cheaper then buying pre packed. Just select .452 and 300 non Mag in drop down for cabelas. Just about any bullet store has them too, I use graft and sons for both bullet and sabot on line because I get various other items Steve
