  1. Voted at lunch time, Number 77 for my district but everyone in town ran unopposed so I would not expect too high of a turnout.

Culver I definitely agree with your assessment of the constitutional convention. I had read some articles in favor of it from NYC that had proposed amendments such as changing the state legislature from a bicameral house to a mono-cameral assembly to remove any checks that upstate would have on NYC. And although it would be highly unlikely that something like that would pass, this is NYS and our political corruption seems to know no bounds so I voted no:mda:.

Wondering if it's good wood for smoking meats....

You can use it for smoking but the smoke can have a high level of acidity which can cause meat to be bitter.

    As an aside:

-The black walnut tree contains a poisonous toxin known as juglone. The tree naturally uses this toxin to compete against other nearby trees or plants for needed soil, water and sunlight. However, it can harm horses and dogs and may even kill them. Poisoning can occur when black walnut wood shavings are included in the bedding of these animals. For humans, black walnut wood and sawdust is sometimes known to cause allergies and asthma. Anyone handling and working with this wood should always use gloves and a dust mask.

Honestly the best thing about black walnut trees is that if they are high enough quality, mills want them for veneers, and wood working.

    My .02 cents.

I like the bowhunt or die guys. Everyday guys with full time jobs that can get it done.

Bowhunt or die is my favorite strictly hunting series. I really like Growing deer TV because it covers not only hunting but also heard and property/habitat management as well as trapping.

    R U a millennial yuppie? Just wonderin'

We could start listing all of the Subaru stereotypes but I would rather not be banned:taunt:

In all seriousness, my mom had 3 foresters and an outback and loved all of them, my aunt and uncle have had 3 foresters as well. No one has ever gotten stuck in the snow (except me when I was learning to drive), and they all have been treated well by Van Bortel.

  5. Has anyone been hog hunting in the south? I want to book a trip for sometime in early spring with my buddy, preferably with an outfitter. If anyone has had any experiences positive or negative with a guide or DIY I would like to hear them?

    Thanks,

    Welcome aboard !

Whats your thoughts on year round coyote season ? Shooting immature bucks ?

Just kidding. By the love of God do not answer lol.

I'm all in favor of mandatory shoot on site for coyotes 24/7/365. And if the buck is too stupid to get out of the way as a yearling he will never learn as a 2, 3 or 4 year old.

I am kidding of course, please don't hurt me.

  7. I am shooting a Ruger American in .270, and my bow is a Bear Attitude at 65 lbs. I also have a Mini-30 I use for drives which is my favorite to shoot.

  8. Hello all, long time lurker first time posting. I have been deer hunting with rifle on and off for a few years in the Finger Lakes region, started bow hunting this year. I am looking forward to learning and having good discussions on the board.
