  1. I think their is about 70 to 80 pounds of deboned venison hanging. Some mighty fine eating!
  2. Cousin took his first deer ever; big body spike this morning. 20 gauge open sights. First time player. Will post it up when I get done feeding my face.
  3. Cousin got his ever first deer this morning, a buck; 20 gauge, open sights.
  4. I'll be the first to say I'm protesting the doe only area that the DEC. recklessly implemented in our area. It's all changed in attitude for us, this year because of it.
  5. A most rewarding experience doing the work yourself from kill to finish product.
  6. For what it's worth, I date my signs to show I have been there checking to make sure name, address, and phone numbers are good. Got a call in October from a neighbor asking to go in and find a deer. I feel phone numbers do help and keep some honest.
  7. I had a trespasser push me in two big doe, then scare them away
  8. She'll keep overnight, Might be a little bloated, but at that temp, the meat will be fine. Hunt in the morning, then go get your deer. I've taken two home sometimes.
  9. I would like to forget the sunset times, if I were that way. I had a shooter buck in at 5:14 pm. yesterday and could only sit there and watch him play with a buck fawn at 90 yards.
  10. A stressed deer will shed early. Weapon wounds are the most common reason.
  11. On the way to the hospital Friday morning, minutes after sunrise. A big 10 point run in front of the vehicle, stopping to the side. He was a big boy. I know him well, LOL. As if to say hello just before firearms opener. Little surprised he wasn't nocturnal. Bet he is now.
  12. Their will always be people that " get their deer'" then return to their 364 day lifestyle. For some of us, it's a hell of a lot more.
  13. We need more snow pics posted. Mostly sunny up north; winds blowing hard at times. Any whiteouts yet?
  14. Our employment rate is 5 %; the countries debt is only 17 trillion dollars, give or take 100 billion or so; and we as Americans have never had it so good. Why not add hundreds of thousands Syrian registered democratic voters to vote for Hillary.
  15. The snapshots in my mind, are the real classics. Ones I'll never forget!
  16. The one that walks in front of you. Venison tastes the same, small or big horns.
  17. New rubs and scrapes are showing up. Some old ones are still active, but quite a few abandoned. Buck activity has increased rapidly the last two days. By the signs, the next phase of the breeding season is coming. Had five bucks in, yesterday before sunset, scraping, rubbing. and tearing up bushes. Grunting coming from all sides. Colder weather will only make it better.
  18. New rubs and scrapes showing up. All bucks yesterday afternoon, but no shooters. Small eight in the radish this am, at 22 yards. Doe have been nocturnal for several days. Round three is near. Going to be a busy next few.
  19. Shot the Brenneke KO, 12 ga, 3 inch sabots for years, but had to make a switch to Lightfields, this year due to availability issues. Those Brenneke's would knock a deer right off its feet. Midway use to carry them. The Lightfields sighted in rather well.
  20. I always seem to harvest deer when no help is available. They always drop in the thickest of brush. Dang things are heavy. A two wheel cart sure comes in handy if one can wheel. One like WNY Buckhunter had for sale works nice.
  21. Did you drag that one out of the woods by yourself too?
