  1. Ozone levels are elevated today and tomorrow. Thursday back to average temps. First few weeks of August look to be below normal temps., as the jets team sinks south of us, similar to last winters pattern. Jet stream, these androids have a mind f their own, LOL.
  2. I miss the days of watching a good bird dog work a pheasant in the wild. Then, capitalizing on the effort. There's nothing else like it. So pheasant hunting would have to top the list. Deer & Turkey has taken it's place and filled the void over the years rather nicely. I do so enjoy the time afield. I get lost in the moment. I would hope that some day pheasants could return to the wild.
  3. "So a crossbow is still considered a firearm in New York with the muzzleloader privilege license required to hunt with one.
  4. Bottle some of this heat up for release in January and February.
  5. I'm new here. What's a profile view?

  7. Heavy wild crop of apples with the deer claiming the drops. little worried about the limbs for the weight. Bracing will be needed.b
  8. First week of turkey season, finding turkey egg shells in the favorite turkey nesting spots. Counted 21 poults with 2 hens yesterday. Quite a few poults for two hens. May have missed a hen. Starting to use their summertime roosting spot. Largest numbers ever here. Excited and can't wait to get some pics. Worked on habitat improvement here, for several years. I would hope something I've done has helped. Not taking any credit yet though.
  9. Earn A Buck programs work. Shot a doe to receive a buck tag. Use of check in stations. More cost associated with this program. Most likely the reason why NY. Won't use this method.
  10. Their was legislation introduced in Albany changing the required muzzleloader license to bow hunting privalage. Two sponser s to the bill. I don't know the outcome of this. I don't seem to be able to post the link due to Next book. Personally, I think a crossbow safety coarse with crossbow license should be adopted.
  11. No set plan. Just play it by ear and enjoy the season. Hope everyone else enjoys their deer season, as well !
  12. Turkeys like to come into my hay field after the. 1st cuttings been harvested. They clean up a number of grasshoppers and late frogs. They also eat the young red clover.
  13. Frankly, I don't put any faith in what the DEC. Implements when it is politically motivated.
  14. This will surely upset a lot of people!
  15. I just knew where this thread was going to end up. It maybe should be flushed.
  16. A good number of poults and hens in my woods. They looked good and fair size already. Look to be as many as the best year, of 3 years ago. Start getting pics when they start coming in the hay fields for the bugs. What are you seeing in your area.
  17. I see the same reactions Wooly has in my observation platforms. Be it body gas, food, insect repellant, diesel fuel, colone, and some other items this time of year. Even take wind indicators to check. Now come deer seasons, it's a hole new ballgame. Deer get wired in.
  18. Good for you Lawdwaz! Mercy Flight has saved many lives over the years. A very worthy cause!
  19. Camo made for specific region, as the OP posted is a strange marketing stragity. Why limit your sales potential to one area?
  20. Even before the SAFE. Act was slammed through, it was to my understanding that the guns legal owning could be held responsible in the event of an incident.
  21. Ah, the good old days when saws and the like were made out of metal.
