Jake and a hen rooster here last night. Flew down at 5:20 bumping the ground in a thundering crash. -

Had a Jake and a hen out in the clover, kinda early this morning. Picking at the clover leaves as they walked through. -

9.6 percent from 2022. Perhaps someone can post the link. Why do you think harvest numbers are falling?

Live From The Woods 2024 Turkey Edition

Sunny day and great temperatures on the west side of the state today. The only turkey I see are the ones crossing in front of my car. Usually in the afternoon. Figure, at least I'm seeing them LOL.. -
I had a chance to trade a hundred bales of hay for a trio of 2 year old Red Bourbons a while back. Didn't figure the turkeys were worth 300, and I don't have to feed the hay.

Had a big gobbler cross in front of the car last evening. Wouldn't luck have it. Lots of fog this morning. Plenty of deer sightings, no turkey yet. -
I know over the years, the turkey population has dropped, here on the farm. Have better habitat also. Areas, just over the boarder in Erie County where I see 50 birds, now maybe 10.

Is this an average size for your area? How old would it be?

Another good reason not to mow the lawn.

April 20th and 21st. Wow, tomorrow and Sunday. Good luck to all the youth going a field. Always be safe.

Last time I went into Dicks was 7 years ago to check the price of a Cooper's catchers mitt ,That I purchased used at Gentners Auction and Market down in Springville. I'm a value minded shopper, and have no reason to pay for their fancy store front.

Business decision to remove.the hunting section, made from corporate. Smart move for them, on a financial point of view.

I see toms all day and hen's in the afternoon, quite often in Erie County. Wouldn't surprise me to where the hens are sitting on eggs. Not a turkey in Niagara. Must be the higher taxes sent' em south.

Did anyone notice the light in west and east horizons at once with an eree darkness between? That don't happen to often. The only other time I remember, close to this was a wall cloud out in Illinois before a tornado dropped out
-
Well, that was pretty cool. Even though clouds block the sun from showing for us, it turned dark for a few minutes.

I would worry more about the free range chickens

Authorities are saying to expect 1 million people in Niagara Falls Monday. State of Emergency issued to free up federal money. I can't even imagine what kind of a mess it will be.
-
Can't answer that. Don't know anyone that's ever experienced one. I do remember a partial that got low light levels in 1970. Chickens went on roost.

Nice pics Steve D.. I'm seeing turkey tracks along a grass waterway, beside the clover field.

Licenses Ditching Plastic and Going with Paper
landtracdeerhunter replied to airedale's topic in General Hunting
Do you think we would be able to make photo copies of 24+25 license, if original is damaged? I believe reproduction of the vinyl license was illegal. -

Funny how things cycle back to the better way
