  1. Still have time to plant oats and wheat. Oats will freeze back come November, but the wheat will stay green. Edit: Plant oats 3 bushel/ acre; wheat 2 bushel and a peck/ acre.
  2. I ended up with something that looks like the Ameristep Doghouse blind for 20 bucks on a flea market yesterday. The thing laid in a pile. I went over and offered to set the thing up for the guy and ended up buying it. Nor sure it's big enough for bow though.
  3. Their are some flatter areas with enough population that should never see rifle introduced. I don't expect my county, Orleans, Monroe, as well as Northern Erie County, will ever see a rifle season. Of coarse I said that many years ago about a bear season, and looked what happen, LOL.
  4. Assumption can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
  5. Hi Dave and welcome back. Sounds like your sure been busy. Are you the same Dave that partnered up with me in the first turkey contest?
  6. Looking through past post, somehow missed this beauty. Nine inch bases, wow. Congrats on fine Orleans County buck! Didn't see it on NY Antlers site. Does anyone have info on what it scored?
  7. Sounds like a really good spot. Good luck and hope to see some nice harvest pics, come season.
  8. Rub my bow, firearms, and complements on the hides from the previous years harvest. The luck slides over year after year.
  9. Theirs no better feeling, than to be out in the woods at 3 in the morning hearing your coon dog working a hot scent. Been there many times. That aside, trapping is the way to go without a dog. Take the NYS. trapping coarse. Know the laws of trapping. Learn the locations for the sets. Harvest the coon. And what ever you do, don't salt the hides.
  10. If you supported the structure from the ground with some type of post system, then I would build it in a forked tree. Otherwise, it will need constant attention.
  11. Switched to Blazers 4 years ago. My whisker biscuit was peeling off the longer fletchings. Issue resolved.
  12. Congrats on the harvest. I'm noticing that the September goose populations, in this area are lower.
  13. One of the best moments on earth! Prayers sent.
  14. I'm old fashion in this respect. Still like to judge distance with my own eye finder.
  15. Congrats on catching a very nice bass!
  16. This is where New York officials have fallen short of a nice opportunity. They have missplayed the cards they were dealt, and opened up a new can of worms. All they had to do is look at other states and review their success and failures. Use this in some of the decision making. Politics taking over, once again.
  17. Other states that used them for years have some real buys on some great units.
  18. Nope. Must posses a Muzzleloading Hunting Privilege for early bow, late muzzleloader seasons, watch a movie online, and fill out and carry a Crossbow Certificate of Qualification, stating your watched the movie. The certificate are in the 14- 15 guide booklet or on line. Regular Season use are covered under your Big Game License. They are considered a firearm in New York State. They still allow hunting in Clarence? LOL.
  19. I believe they call it the Warrensberg garage sale. It's a garage sale lovers dream! LOL. It's hugh and I like to go back to it someday.Take lots of money and something to haul with. Some nice fishing at Lake George. Their bow season open Sept. 27th, LOL.
  20. Yep, it's a muzzlebow now. Just prime the bolt and shoot, LOL. Next season, they will have the crossbow license in place for $15 more.
