Gives you an idea when to be out there so you can shoot them. Nice pics.

My parents prefer the liver and heart over the rest of the meat itself. Believe that one. It is a delicacy to them. We have to aim so we don't damage any of these organs. Too bad it doesn't always work that way. I saved the intestines for sausage casings, but haven't made any yet.

You are entering the States- Wildlife Mismanagement Area; Wildlife Nomanagement Area, both have a certain ring to them. Now you know, the state would never pay for those signs.

I had a chance to buy 60 acres for 30k about 2 years ago. It was a buy. Had very little road frontage, maybe a 30' driveway width. The only catch was the owner would only sell to someone that would put it in agricultural production. Taxes were going to run $3600/ yr. The neighbor ended up buying it , planted corn for 1 year. He is now planting a new apple orchard on it. i find that a lease makes more sense, than owning. 30 K can go a long way. Own a little land, lease the rest. Grow your own deer on someone elses expense.

Well, the rabbits,or maybe mice, got to them nice salad, thanks guy. Next time, i'm planting salad bowl for them, lol. -

I find it interesting that every time crossbows are brought up for archery season, it becomes an informational thread.

I've got 5 trees to prune. They have been let go for years. Some are 40 feet high I bet. Is there any way to lower the height without destroying the tree or is it best to just trim some lower growth and let the top go. Most of the production is on the upper branches. They are filled with blossoms each year but set only maybe 5 % fruit. Also, don't want to overload the tree with fruit as I'm sure, not the strongest. The lower main branches are maybe 12 inches in diameter off the trunk. Their the type of apple, the deer stand on their hind legs for the fruit. I do have some experience prunning dwarf orchard trees. -
Doesn't matter the color or type, they still get shot up and stolen just as easily. If they were nailed on a board, it would be an easier take.. Can't believe the people that just don't care about anyone elses property. Their not put there for someones bar room. Bet the replacement cost is quite high.

Stealth EPIC Bow Camera
landtracdeerhunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Looks like a nice setup eddie. Maybe take a little time to get use to. Does it have good video quality? I like the idea of filming your own hunts. -
The state requires instructors to spend hours of training on archery, but only 15- 20 minutes of class time on crossbow. Alot of time went into that thought process didn't it. Do they break down the firing mech. or explain how each part works? That would eat up 15-20 minutes, by itself. Just don't understand this state sometimes. I'm not trying to slow the process, just worried some of the younger archers walking around with fewer fingers.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Glad you enjoyed it. Dinner went well, Lobster prices are up and their was a shortage in our area. I thought about hunting supplies, for the misses, but that just wouldn't fly, if you know what I mean. I do see a dozen bolts on the horizon though., maybe for the old birthday.

Congrats. Enjoy when he's young, cause they sure don't stay that way long. Time seems to fly faster with grand children.

I wanted to take the crossbow out during muzzle loader last season. Just needed more confidence or something, never did use it. So much more different than a compound. Never had the same issues with that. More practice this year, hopefully heading afield with it. Maybe take a bow coarse over, to go through safety issues of it. Nothing like teaching from a good instructor, and hands on. Owe it to the deer.

The turkeys don't start showing up on the farm here, till mid to late March. I always thought that they seek out a longer range as they need to for food, for being the reason. With this years open winter, might not see any; time will tell. I spread manure on some of the fields, during winter months, which others say will draw them, but that doesn't seem to work. Have not seen a coyote track in the mud or what snow we have had, this winter, so ruleing that out. I have seen a flock of 100 or better robins the last two weeks, and we're loaded with bluebirds also.

Hope everyone has someone special to celebrate, share your special moment with. ( If so choose) What are you doing for this special day? Studies show the average male spends $130 on their valentine and the average female spend about half. Some people even buy their co-workers something. My wife and I have a special dinner at home. I buy her a nice size lobster, shes for me, a nice angus steak, along wiith twice baked potato, and whole asparagus on the grill..We kind of prepare the meal together. ( More or less)

A few months ago, Larry the Cable Guy, with his show, Made In America made a surprize visit to the Palins homestead in Alaska. Her husband spent alot of time with Larry and his camera crew, but Sarah just waived and headed out jogging towards the end of the interview. She did leave a note in their van. Did anyone else see this?

It's really great to see people wanting to support American made products. If only more people would think this way. Vendors can keep the China junk on their shelves. Would you believe it ; when I picked up an American flag, the other day, that was made in China, made me sick. They can keep it, send it back to China; I'll buy an American, thank you!
