  1. Wish I would of practiced more with the crossbow, so I could of takened it out during muzzleloading season. Didn't have the confidence for its use this year, but next year, I'll be using it. Does NY offer some type of a safety coarse? Watching the video and filling out, carrying, the certificate of qualification is not enough.
  2. How about a late Archery- crossbow season, like Ohio does. Was out this morning, deer seem good and calm right now. Nice 120 lb doe at 30 yds, passed on her. Few buttons, and doe fawns are seemed the same like October 15th bow start. Weather was perfect, light N wind, partly cloudy skies. Really enjoyed the morning.
  3. How in the world, do you find such things? lol
  4. No. How to extend it, have a late muzzleloader license tag. Those people that want to take part , buy the tag. Those that want to continue to hunt can, and increase revenue for the state. A win win situration. Count me in on a year like this one.
  5. We own 4 Moultrie i40 GameSpy,( oldest 4 years), 1 Moultrie i60, and a Stealth cam STC-1540IR ( first IR OUT) 6- D battery life in the Moultries, at least 3 months on 700 pics. Trigger speed is fast enough on scrapes and rubs, but to slow in trails on the i40. The I 60 seems a little better on this. I feel that we are missing pics on all models. Good daytime pics, but some blurry night pics on all models. As stated above, lost LCD screen on 2 of the i40s, and lost it on the I60 now as well. Have not tried to contact customer service, but I refuse to pull teeth, lol. This is the first trouble we've had since new. I wouldn't buy an 80 or 100 model because they went to C batteries. Think they shrunk the case, Ds wouldn't fit. The Stealth C batteries last 2 weeks, Take pics when it wants, but are clear night and day. It's still works good for a first 5 year old IR camera.
  6. Just kidden with ya. Enjoy the new gun from an 870 owner/ little recoil.
  7. Seen one hanging on a swing set in the sun Sat.. Went by yesterday, and it"s still hangin. I know we had 2- 20 degrees nights last weekend, but isn't that pushing it a little. That"s some really aged meat. Is their any regulation on that from the D.E.C..
  8. I understood that any meat market, butcher shop, or any other type of processor' that sells any other type of meat to the public, cannot process deer in the same building. Is this true? A chinese fast food take out place in WNY was closed down for processing deer in their kitchen a few years back
  9. Always BO during gun season. Our old vest were faded, not showing up as they use to, so I bought everyone new Seculsion 3D this year.
  10. To me, the season has really gone by fast. Heck, still have one tree stand to put up. Guess might as well wait till next year now. Still out for bow- muzzle. Usually this time of the year, we see no deer or large groups. This years a little different, we're still counting 1- 3 at a time and not as nockternal as their still working food sources. Might be the mild weather. Maybe, harvest numbers are down?
  11. WNYBuckHunter, from what I understand, Butler Creek covers were cheapen a few years ago. Their quality went way down according to some of the reviews. My son just snapped one off his gun last night. We have the plastic type, complete junk. Steve863, Kind of agree with U, but they do keep the lenses clean when not in use. Mine are open right now.
  12. Got a nice new scope this year for the muzzleloader as a gift. Put on a new set of Butler Creek flip open, scope covers, which lets say had a high failure rate, allready. What does everyone use, and how do u like?
  13. Could you imagine if all 3 were made into full mounts.. What a conversation piece, of coarse,a rather large room would have been needed.
  14. This all sounds well and good, but lets be real here. A certain amount of people have a limited amount of time for hunting, and just want to get their deer. They don't care about deer numbers or management in that area. It's nice to think that their is a lot of deer management out there, a small percentage, I agree, but on a large scale, it not happening.
  15. We have to all remember how DEC positions are filled. Who they represent when the seat is filled. They have several intrests that are considered. The sportman fit in there somewhere.
  16. We don't really know how accurate the story has been written for news(entertainment purposes). How much is fact in that story? Elk had escaped from a zoo- preserve. Two elk were shot by hunters, and reported to DEC. I'm not one to pass judgement to quickly.
  17. Buy the new gun and keep the 870. They are a super, fun, trouble free gun. Nothing wrong with having 2 shotguns. Besides, when you want a change in pace, you'll want to switch back to the 870.
  18. We have the same on brighter days, but last night( rainy, darker), deer came in at 4:27p.m.. The darker days seem to alter the nocturnal thing, and it might have to do with the food sources this time of the year too. We moved trail cams twice already, since the main breeding. Put on new scrapes and rubs that are showing up. They have change their pattern twice, since last week. It will change more when snow stays on the ground.
  19. A lot of hunters slow down this time of the year, but it is a great time to be out. Bucks and does are making and working new scrapes. New rubs have surfaced. Chasing and breeding is in full bore again. This time of the year is the most sucessful for us. The season is flying by fast. Get out there and hunt. ( So deer climb trees, do they fly?
  20. Would of never believed it, if not for the pics. Had one about 10 feet in front of me on a dead limb once, but never that close. The fermented grapes idea sounds right, but I know I don't think of perching on ladder steps when I've had to many fermented grapes, lol.
  21. Lost picture so added here. Attach this file always gets me.
  22. My son harvested this buck on 12-1-11. Came barreling in from the woods to check out some larger doe fawns in one of our wheat fields. He put the scope on him at 20 yards. Heart lung shot, deer went 30 yards and ended up leaning against a tree. His left hind leg had a bullet hole through it, but was healing. He has great luck this time of the year. He hasn't seen a buck all gun season, but when he does, he gets it done. We really want to take a doe or two, but he showed up and was 8 of larger. Really proud pops here.
