  1. It something that has been on my mind for several seasons now. Well, this year, we entirely stopped using trail cams. We started using them when 35 mm. cameras were in them. Progressed right up to the modern day cell cams. Now you may ask, why would they do such a thing? Many reasons, really. I just liked the way it was before trail cameras exsisted. I like to show the grand children how it use to be. Change is good, makes for new excitement. Making new memories, the old fashion way. And it's not a senior moment either, lol. I may cave sometime in the future IDK; but for now, the trail cams are in the box and all of us are really enjoying, this deer hunting season. How do you feel about trail cameras?
  2. Yes, she signed it September 30th this year. Their were a few areas in the county that opted out. Rob Ortt, along with a ton of help, got it done. It amazes me how many people are still using shotguns here. Good reasons for that, no doubt. We waited for years for this, and finally got it. Really nice to rage out with accuracy now. I also feel a riffle is far safer, if used properly.
  3. Tuesday afternoon sits. Bumped 4 50 yards from the door yard. ;Deer still eating clover and wheat. Can sure tell which deer have been shot at. This morning is drizzle. It's so foggy, you can't even see.
  4. First-light, you've been having some great success around you. Hope you keep up the good work. Well, I just know their in here!
  5. Discretion must be used with all weapons. Location and weather conditions play a Hugh role in determining when not to shoot. If it safe to do so and still in legal light, by all means. I still remember my hunting instructors saying; remember once you pull the trigger, you can't bring it back. Make dam sure of your back drop.
  6. Been watching this tree with no action this year, then Saturday night, boom. This is the six straight year, this rub has freshen. It's ten yards from our main tree stand.
  7. Lot of movement this afternoon. Nice to see things back to usual. Couple sixes showed, along with the doe. No buck action. I expect that to pick back up by the 25th I
  8. Why do you think the bucks are walking in that? You should see some of the tickets were hunting in; that's nothing.
  9. Strange thing: no shots this morning. First week of firearms? Must be recouping time from all the celebrations yesterday from the Bills win .
  10. I know deer were feeding earlier Saturday, in the moonlight. Sunday was cloudy here, they still fed early.
  11. Bumped 7 deer on the way out yesterday morning feeding in the moon light. Front blind sit for 3 hours ,nothing. The afternoon sits was more eventful with deer in the pumpkins, and the clover. No bucks. This morning sit involved raking leaves and cracking sticks getting into the woods with my feet. Ten minutes into the sit, deer start showing up feeding on green leaves on the bushes. Had a 6 point come in with tree branch antlers very close. Looked like an antlered doe.
  12. Perfect spot for a light north breeze. Hope the one doing this shows up.
  13. Here's one that just showed up just right of the new blind the grand kids made
  14. Damp out, cool, showers stopped early. Lightest breeze all week. Deer out, so couldn't get in to where I wanted to be. Nothing close again
  15. Totally agree. Food sources never disappoint. Our hay fields bring in a lot of deer. I planted about 7 acres of lawn and red clover mixed with birds foot trefoil seed. Golden rod in part of it. It really produced this year. I really like the lawn clover. It spreads out and will continue to grow for years. I didn't get radish in this year and was a little worried. I believe now, I would rather spend the money on the lawn clover, as it draws deer right into snow.
  16. Ready or not, it all starts Saturday. Dig in for the ride.
  17. These shooters are showing up farther away now, like 100 yards and more. Not time to hang up the crossbow just yet. Doe in the field at 40.
  18. It always been difficult to hunt an East wind here. It swirls and shift direction quite often. The deer have never trusted it in the past here. Today was no exception. Those that did,, were nervous , very flighty, and didn't feed long. No bucks today.
  19. I wouldn't miss the Holiday hunt for the world. The weather last year was mild with some fog throwned into the equation.Really a strange feeling hunting between Christmas and New Years day. Seems like your out with know one else around. Good luck on your quest.
  20. He sure liked his turkey hunting. I remember quite a few stories he told. I don't think he hunted to many whitetail.
