The article states “Gov. Andrew Cuomo argues it's because New York is paying the price for President Donald Trump's signature legislative achievement.”

As usual, Cuomo blames President Trump.  Does not change the truth that New York State under years of Cuomo’s governorship has become a “progressive” mess.

  2. That article states "This case is going to end badly for gun violence prevention advocates."

No, they are NOT "gun violence prevention advocates" they are are "gun control advocates".  If these "advocates" were honest about eliminating gun violence, they would address what causes a person to commit gun violence.

These "advocates" are gun haters who are unwilling or unable to accept the root causes of gun violence.

Look at Cuomo's list of real problems in New York State.  So Cuomo thinks, and obviously the majority of voters in New York believe that Marriage Equality, $15 Minimum Wage, Paid Family Leave, Tuition Free College, Gun Safety and Protecting Healthcare are NY's major problems.  Obviously the following REAL problems like high taxes, high crime, generous welfare to enable the lazy, an opioid crisis, a failed mental health system keeping the violent mentally ill loose in public, a failed corrections system that is not keeping violent sociopaths (ex. William Spengler) locked up for life and failed schools apparently are not that important.

Cuomo will legalize marijuana for all those mentally ill to pacify them so they may continue to see the world through rosy colored eye glasses!

  4. So Governor Cuomo supports killing innocent unborn babies BUT is the governor of a state that:

    • Does not  execute violent criminals like William Spengler.
    • Does not support the Castle Doctrine for self defense probably because it risks getting his violent sociopaths killed.

So when is Cuomo going to pass legislation that executes violent sociopaths and pass the Castle Doctrine so we can have real self defense protection under the law?

  5. 2 hours ago, The Jerkman said:

Then buy your long guns out of state

Yes........for now until NY requires all long guns be registered and they want to know where you obtained them.

Gun registration is not new to New York State.  New York City requires all long guns be registered, New York State requires all "military looking rifles" be registered and of course all handguns be registered.  Makes gun haters feel good knowing the identity of the law abiding gun owners and where their guns are located.

Registration of long guns will be called ANOTHER "gun safety measures"  created by a government unwilling or unable to understand the root causes of gun violence..

  6. The Democrats in Albany are getting a lot of NOTHING done as usual.

New York still has high taxes, high crime, generous welfare to enable the lazy, an opioid crisis, a failed mental health system keeping the violent mentally ill loose in public, a failed corrections system that is not keeping violent sociopaths (ex. William Spengler) locked up for life, failed schools and the list goes on.....................so what have the Democrats in power accomplished to lix those REAL problems in New York?  Nothing!

Also the Democrats call what is really "gun control" by the new politically correct title of "gun safety measures".   This is because the Democrats are unwilling or unable to accept the true facts about the root causes of gun violence.

  7. Effective Background Check Act: This bill, S.2374 introduced by Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, establishes an Effective Background Check Act: This bill, S.2374 introduced by Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, establishes an extension of time up to thirty calendar days for national in-state background checks. for national in-state background checks.

So even though the FBI has no problem with a person who is purchasing a firearm, New York State can have a problem?  New York State does not trust the FBI's background check system?

Apparently that extension of time up to thirty calendar days for national in-state background checks is to allow time for a "back door" look at social media and other invasive actions.

    • Extreme Risk Protection Orders: This bill, S.2451 introduced by Senator Brian Kavanagh, allows law enforcement officials, family and household members and certain school officials to seek a court order requiring a person likely to harm themselves or others to relinquish any firearms in their possession.

So what protections will a law abiding firearm owner have AGAINST false accusations from law enforcement officials, family and household members and certain school officials?  What penalties will be imposed upon them?  Is protections for firearm owners included in this law?

  8. What about going after the root causes of violent behavior?  What about a real war on illegal drugs the major common denominator linked to gun violence?  What about the failed welfare system that creates single mother families whose children are placed at higher risk of being a victim of violent crime or becoming a violent criminal?  What about keeping violent criminals locked up for life (ex. William Spengler) to ensure they never repeat harming others?

  9. https://www.nysenate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/senate-majority-passes-sweeping-anti-gun-violence-legislation-protect-new

The historic legislation passed by the Senate Democratic Majority includes:

    • Extreme Risk Protection Orders: This bill, S.2451 introduced by Senator Brian Kavanagh, allows law enforcement officials, family and household members and certain school officials to seek a court order requiring a person likely to harm themselves or others to relinquish any firearms in their possession.
    • Effective Background Check Act: This bill, S.2374 introduced by Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, establishes an extension of time up to thirty calendar days for national in-state background checks.
    • Bump Stock Ban: This bill, S.2448 introduced by Senator Luis Sepulveda, prohibits the possession of a device that accelerates the rate of fire of a firearm.
    • Preventing School Districts from Allowing Teachers to be Armed: This bill,S.101A introduced by Senator Todd Kaminsky, prevents K-12 schools from authorizing anyone other than a security officer, school resource officer, or law enforcement officer to carry a firearm on school grounds.
    • Gun Buy Backs: This bill, S.2449 introduced by Senator Shelley Mayer, directs the State Police to devise regulations for gun buyback programs so that all buyback programs across the state are operated consistently with uniform best practices.
    • Out of State Mental Health Records: This bill, S.2438 introduced by Senator Anna Kaplan, will require out-of-state applicants for gun permits to allow New York permitting authorities to review out-of-state mental health records.

  10. I do not believe the Catholic Church would ever ex-communicate Governor Cuomo.

Why?  My experience with the Catholic Church is that they embrace many of Cuomo's beliefs.  The Catholic Church is pro-gun control, social programs, lenient with violent criminals and support for illegal aliens.

Additionally, the Catholic Church refrained from prosecuting pedophiles and implementing real protection for children from pedophiles.  So with that kind of baggage we can only imagine the rant Cuomo would  scream if he were ex-communicated.  I would say Cuomo would top his infamous, but psychotic rant that "YOU DON'T NEED TEN BULLETS TO KILL A DEER." upon receiving his papers booting him out of the Catholic Church!

  11. Governor Cuomo has no problem with the murder of innocent babies, but supports keeping dangerous violent sociopaths alive. An example is William Spengler.  This monster was set free while Cuomo was governor.  Read the story of how he murdered his grandmother by beating her to death with a hammer, but was set free during the Cuomo administration to murder several other innocent people.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Webster,_New_York_shooting

Here is more proof of Cuomo's love of the violent criminals:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/21/nyregion/judith-clark-brinks-robbery-parole.html

Cuomo is not interested in protecting the innocent.  Cuomo supports abortion, keeping monsters alive and sometimes setting them free and taking away your right to self defense.

  12. Unchecked ignorance eventuality festers into complete stupidity.  Apparently gun control focused politicians and their supporters have allowed themselves to continue down the road of unchecked ignorance and well as they say, the rest is history!

I was, but now I am never surprised by the fact these gun control politicians and their supports always fail to want to address the root causes of gun violence like illegal drugs, the failed mental health programs, the failed corrections system that is releasing unrepentant violent sociopaths (ex. William Spengler) into society and the failed welfare system that is enabling single mother families whose children are placed at higher risk of becoming victims or criminals of gun violence.

So nothing changes with these gun control politicians except more stupid gun control , NOT gun violence control.

“We know the future,” Mr. Cuomo said. “Let New York lead.”

     Lead where?

Did I miss Cuomo explaining any realistic reforms like the elimination of gun violence, rid society of violent sociopaths, lower income taxes, lower property taxes, make schools safer, punishing welfare and disability cheaters, term limits for all elected positions and make New York State government more efficient?

  15. Two options:

    1. Have all the Attorney Generals in every state issue memorandums of understanding granting reciprocity to all states licensed pistol permit holders.  Many states Attorney Generals have done this with their counterparts in other states, never New York's.  It will never happen with New York's Attorney General because none support law abiding citizens the right to self defense.  Look at New York Cities discriminatory practice against upstate ccw permit holders denying their being allowed to carry in NYC.  No New York Attorney General has ever taken on NYC over this issue

    2. Have the Congress establish a national ccw permit system.  It will never happen because not enough politicians care.

Marijuana sales in New York State will be highly regulated to ensure they get the money.  Sales outlets will be asking for identification, video taping those in the stores and credit card transactions can be traced.   The government will know the marijuana users.

So if the Federal government would have cause to deny a sale of a firearm due to marijuana use regardless if marijuana is legal or not, does anyone think Governor Cuomo will allow the sale because he will legalize marijuana?  I think NO.  And furthermore since it will be easier to identify users, laws can be passed to take away firearms already in possession.  Rational?  If your not eligible to purchase a new firearm, you cannot be qualified to keep the old ones..
