  1. I stopped using cams for deer, and only use to monitor land for trespassing. That said, the location of my one camera is catching good deer movement this year. It has effected my hunting. Based on photos i would be wasting time hunting in that spot in the am.
  2. All 3 showed this week. But only the smallest of the 3 in the day on camera
  3. Sat from 3 to 7 tonight. At 6 had doe and fawn come through. Pulled my camera card on the way out. All 3 bucks I am after showed up on camera in the last week.
  4. Took the grandson with me this evening. Walked out back and up the creek. He is 4. As we are walking/ talking he stops and says wait papa, then he kneels down, points and says "right there, see it, oh man it's a squirrel. " He was right, there were 2. We watched for a bit, then he was ready to go again. Best "hunt" this year so far
  5. Just got out. Seen one doe this am. She came through about 730 at 20 yards
  6. Seen 2 does this afternoon. Had a basket rack come in about 615 and worked his way up the hill. Did not see the buck I want tonight. Total of 8 deer, and 2 coyotes today. Good start for me.
  7. Came in got lunch, and heading to my evening spot. Been waiting too long for this. Hopefully he shows up tonight
  8. 7 am this morning watching doe with fawn70 yards out from a tree seat. They got very nervous, then started trotting away. Just then 2 coyotes busted out on my left. One coyote stopped, 35 yards. On impact, he screeched like a cat, spun and bee lined straight at me. About 5 feet from me he did a 90, and headed down the hill. I was ready to club him with the bow. That got the blood flowing. I stayed in stand. About 9 had spike, doe and fawn within 30 yards. Nice movement this morning.
  9. Spent all day watching wind and weather forcast. Thinking about thermals, food, deer movement, moon phase, and which place to set, how to enter. Decided I am going deeper in than i normally do, different entry than normal, and different time. Usually hunt this area in evening. I figure the buck i am after has my habits figured out. If i do the same things i have the last 2 years he will be on to me. Biggest buck usually get killed by hunters new to the land because the hunter does it differently than others. Good luck to everyone out tomorrow. Gonna be a long night.
  10. I dislike electric cars. They are too expensive, and as of now, too unreliable. Regardless of how I feel, they will be the future of transportation and there will be alot of money to be made because of them. In my field, I have chosen to get in front of most technicians for financial reasons. As time goes on, I have replaced air and power tools with battery powered. That technology has come far in the last decade, as automotive will too. If you're into torque, and speed check out the electric supercars. Combustion engines can not produce the instinct torque that an electric motor can. They are pretty impressive.
  11. Hopefully county legislators use common sense. I would like my county to be open. Too bad that this is one of the few decisions left up to local governments to decide. It would be nice if more decisions were made at the county level instead of the state level. I believe there would be better decisions made for what is best for my community if it was up to the county instead of Albany.
  12. I have heard tesla is getting the charging down rapidly, like 5 minutes. As far as longevity of batteries, i have seen a few already with less than 500 miles with dead cells. As of now cells not service separate from battery pack, but that will change. Auto manufacturer warranty seem to be covered 12 yr, 120k or more, so cost to consumers are low. Disposal, as of now all have to be returned to manufacturer.
  13. I use a white light. When in the woods I will turn on and off as needed. I use to keep off until right at my stand, but about 5 years ago i got a stick in my right eye opening morning. Had blury vision for a week, and i shoot right handed.
  14. Companies do have a choice, just as employees have a choice. Unity in numbers. The only way the bs mandates stop
  15. I have this guy still showing. Had a couple picks of him, but this was the only clear one of horns. He likes to move an hour before dark. 5 more days, if he keeps his pattern I should get a shot. Also seen the 13 point today when glassing fields. He was out on top of hill, instead of the bottom, where he was the last 2 months.
  16. I keep both eyes open , then prior to shot, close my left eye after deer is in cross hairs. I do this with a scope when still hunting deer.
  17. I have been watching a 13 and 10 since july. 13 has split and changed pattern. 10 has still stuck to evening routine. If he continues for another week I think i should get a shot.
  18. I remember a fenced buck when i was younger. Every year he was 10 to 12 point. He was kept in a fenced in acre of land in someone back yard with a barn. He was a pet for sure. Without fear of humans though he was very territorial and aggressive during the fall months especially. You wouldn't dare step in the pen with him. I have no interest in guided or high fenced hunts, but I like them being around. Those wealthy people some speak of pay for a hunt, instead of buying up and limiting access to land. Also I would be willing to bet alot of research on deer habitat, health, and behavior has been done at those high fenced areas that we have all found benefits from. Also I am sure some people make a living doing what they love, so I definitely support that. Another benefit is being able to visit one and watch the deer. Can be a great day spent with children and making memories.
  19. I like bacon ground threw my burger or chunk up and grind a canned ham. Pork butt works good for sausage.
  20. I got my hunting license in 1992. That was the year the age in ny dropped from 14 to 12 for small game also. I have hunted every year since. I remember going out deer hunting with my father, and mother younger than that. My favorite memories was being 8, 9 years old and going coon hunting with my dad. I never could keep up. It seemed like I was alone wondering through the woods listening for the dog. Then I would see my fathers light turn on, as he waited for me to catch up. I would get there and he would be off again. If the dog started howling I would head toward the sound. Great memories.
  21. Got out fished by my partner saturday evening
  22. Working in the auto industry, and being one of the few certified to repair plug in cars it is going to be interesting. There already is a lack of quality technicians in the field. Battery powered cars will eliminate alot of maintenance for the consumer, but will increase problems on the technical end. I would say 75% of people who want to be technicians can not even work their way through a simple 12 volt system on vehicles today. It amazes me how many work in the automotive industry and have no concept of how to read a wire diagram, or how current flows. Getting into 600 volt vehicles, additional modules, computer programming, it will be a disaster at the repair level.
  23. I hunted the bottom of that road a few years, next to mercury aircraft in the creek bottom. Had access to 40 acres. Got more ticks on me in there than anywhere else I ever hunted.
