I agree that all of the hunting and fishing shows are nothing but a long commercial, I will say that Jim Shockey's shows are not made in high fence areas, and I do not believe that he needs the money.

Has anyone been fishing in the north end of Cayuga Lake for large mouth this year?

I used to shop at Hoffmans and still have a couple of rifles, a hand gun, and a long bow that I purchased from them, they always had a great selection of used guns. The store always had a jar of special gun wax and a rag by the guns if you handled a gun you was expected to wipe it down or his wife would be after you.

I'll always regret never having made it to Creekside after all I had heard about it over the years.
Ed Hart's was special when it was a little shop in Cohocton and the old man ran it.
After they expanded and built the big store in Bath, it never had the same atmosphere...Thier prices were high on used guns but they had some great specials on new stuff.. I bought a NIB Remington 1100 skeet A grade there in 1973 for $169...
Ackleys used to be good but since the new owners took over it's gone downhill...They have just a fraction of the stuff they used to have.
One of my favorite local places was Hoffman's gun shop, a little jewel tucked away on a side street off Lake Road in Elmira.
Lots of guns and reasonable prices on used stuff..I bought my S&W K22 ( new) there in 1974.
Old Mr. Hoffman passed away and the shop has been gone for many years now.

I harvested an adult swap donkey last night at 5:15, with my compound bow at 45 yards on state land. This was my second time out bow hunting this year. I had seven different deer come by where I was standing. I was hunting on the ground, with no blind. Eye ball to eye ball. The only thing that would have made it any better would be if I had used my long bow. I will use my long bow for the next one. Not to bad for someone 71 years old.

I hunt the moose river Plains area, and the Big Moose lake area. Have seen a lot of sign over the years but only seen a couple of bears. I see more bears in down town Old Forge. Last year there was 3-cubs in a pine tree next to the Pancake house, mama bear was close by.

Buy the T/C then when you get ready for your 30/06, all you will have to buy is the barrel

Here is a little deal that I have used for several years with success, I went to Staples and purchased some blank business card's, and filled them out on my computer with my name, address, telephone number. On the back of the card I list several of the organizations that I actively belong to. Such as N.R.A., local Gun clubs, BASS, N.W.T.F. Church. You would be amazed on some of the good comments that I have received, and permission to hunt on posted land. Almost every land owner I have approached has stated that it is nice to know who they are talking to, other then just a name.
