Are there are any other miscellaneous facts about double barrel shotguns that it would be smart to know about?

Since I don't own either type of gun, I'm putting the following query, submitted by Kyle, a reader of this blog, to readers who are hunters and firearm experts:

"I wanted to know what your professional opinion is on a comparison of the over/under and side-by-side shotguns. Such as if one is better suited for hunting big game and small game hunting, waterfowl and upland birds, and if one is better for recreational shooting such as skeet, trap, and sporting clay .

"I’d also like to ask you why (if you do) prefer one shotgun over the other. Also if one of the two shotguns are easier to use, and if you feel one is more reliable then the other.

"Also maybe if there are any other miscellaneous facts about double barrel shotguns that it would be smart to know about."

Can anyone help this guy out?
