Mitchell Seabury, 12, of Manlius, proudly poses with his first wild turkey, which he shot on Memorial Day weekend in Pompey.

His father Jeff Seabury wrote: "After two years of practicing his turkey calls, Saturday morning brought three jakes to our decoys and Mitchell was able to take one of them. You can see the joy on his face."

The bird weighed 17 pounds.

"I'd like to give special thanks to expert caller Pete Tantalo," the father said.
