HuntingNY-News Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Today, Cuomo invited Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Independent Democratic Conference leader Jeff Klein to join in the competition. In his State of the State speech today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his second "Governor's Challenge" -- a bass fishing tournament on Owasco Lake set for Aug. 21. It will take place on a Thursday in conjunction with an Elite Series Bassmaster Tournament being held at the same time on Cayuga Lake. The Elite Series competition, featuring the top bass anglers in the country, begins that Thursday and concludes the following Sunday. Cuomo is no stranger to bass fishing. Among his favorite spots to wet his line is Lower Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. Local and state officials will be invited to participate in the Governor's Challenge.
