jauslong
This Sunday I took my Chesapeake pup pheasant hunting for the first time. When I say I took him hunting, what I mean is that I went hunting and he came along. We walked a great distance, plodded through grass up to my head. He just stayed close behind for the most part. First, we found a pile of pheasant feathers, so I thought that's a good sign. We pushed ahead a bit more and flushed out a bird. Now, I'm still new to hunting in general, and I've never gone pheasant hunting before, so I was pretty thrilled to even see something. I took aim with my trusty 20ga single shot break action full choke shotgun. Missed. Oh well. Still had a great time. Puppy didn't give a rat's ass about the shotgun going off, so I was pleased with that. We walked around a bit more, got lost in the woods, and made our way home. Slept like a baby that night, both of us.
Twax10
I'm working on my second pup right now and they're the best hunting buddies you'll ever have without a doubt. I can't tell you how many times I've taken a simple walk with my shotgun and my retriver and had a blast just strooling through the woods. And the best part is, it gets even better when they start learning whats really going on and the excitement in their eyes when they see you in camo!
