Deerthug
So last week I develop pain in my left side and i go to my primary Dr. who sends me for a CT Scan to rule out diverticulitis. My wonderful insurance company would only pay for a CT Scan with the dye, so I go to have it done last Wednesday. I've had MRI's with dye in the past without any issues. I tell this to the nurse as she is injecting me with this poison, she tells me "Oh this one is different. It contains Iodine." I immediately feel a tingling sensation in my lower right lip and a warm sensation in my nether regions sort of like peeing myself but that went away. Didn't think much of it. I go home and the next day the tingling gets worse and my lips start getting numb. The next day it extends to the right side of my jaw line and seems like its concentrated in the right lower chin area extending into my cheek. I go back to my primary Dr. and she tells me to take Benadryl. I take it religiously over the next few days. Numbness still there. Monday I call my neurologist and I see him. He sends me for MRI of Brain, to check the trigeminal nerve which runs along the jaw line and branches off to different areas. He tells me its normal. Then he sends me for MRI of the Neck and Midback to rule out any spinal lesions that could be the cause of this. I tell him I immediately felt it when the dye was injected. He is concerned that the iodine may have triggered an autoimmune response where my body is fighting this poison. He is also concerned that this may be the start of Multiple Sclerosis - which is probably not since the MRI's came back normal. So he puts me on a 4 day regiment of IV steroids which is an at home treatment. (Which I had done three years ago when I had numbness and tingling in my legs up to my chest area and it did the trick) Now I'm dealing with the only agency around to get them in today but they are short on nurses and they tell me Sunday is the earliest they can get here. Last night my wife tells me, "I don't want you going hunting this fall unless you are 110% better." I just looked at her and walked away . . . . This really sucks big time.... feels like I've been shot up with 10 needles of novocaine. Can't feel my lips or part of my chin. All my plans to finish my woodshed, go up to the cabin and get the stands and blinds ready and even going to renew my license has been put on hold until I get this poison out of me, and lets not even mention how this has broken my concentration at work. Has anyone ever had a problem like this where they were injected with the Dye and felt some kind of bad reaction?? I am interested to know because I am considering filing a class action lawsuit to get this poison banned. Thanks for reading . . .
