Ian Benedict, 15, of Smyrna, poses with his first deer ever.

He harvested it on Nov. 19, opening day for the Souther Tier gun season.

He shot the buck using his .243 caliber, scoped rifle. Ian is an avid outdoors young man and a cross country runner for Sherburne Earlville schools.
