So , you would say then that the higher the deer density , the more likely bucks stay out in one area?

Yes , they have no reason to travel miles to find girlfriends when they are surrounded by them . Some will always travel a ways . Like when you were single going bar hopping from one town to the next lol .  Then there are the smaller bucks stepping into a dominant bucks territory , getting smacked around , so they leave to find their own ground . I would venture to guess that in higher density areas a bucks circle is closer to 2 miles.

Probably would see that all the time in remote area like the Adirondacks, right?

Actually NCM I would think not . I would think that big deer in the Adirondacks would do the same as big bucks in the North Maine Woods . Both areas have the same characteristics . Mainly big woods and a low deer density . Big bucks will travel for miles searching for each family group of Does to find the one in estrus . Its like they keep a little notebook of which group has a hot doe or one that that will be hot within a few days. He doesn't wait for her to get hot cause he knows Betty a couple miles away should be due. He will come back for Betty later. Its been said that a Big Maine buck can travel as far as a 20 mile circle in a day checking all the Doe groups . Here is a fun video of a buddy on another site I go to. His name is Jeff Russell .One of the best trackers I know. Both him and his Brother Josh . Last year Jeff shot the biggest buck in Maine by weight . He picked up his track real early crossing a logging road . Then tracked him for a few miles before he got a shot.

  3. They are nasty little critters !  Had the same thing happen on my 4 wheeler that was in my shed for the summer . Looked like they had a condo association built around the motor . Good thing I saw it before starting it or the ATV would of gone up in flames !  lol

Oh great .  Time to put that boy out to pasture. Or better yet , throw him in the dumpster ! The only things holding him together are screws , glue , and duct tape .

Im not surprised about that many offers Biz. Im a builder , land developer , real estate investor . I did a quick analysis on that house on competing listings , pending listings , and sold properties on your GGrandfathers house when you !st posted it was going up for sale . Based on square footage , age and condition ,  I estimated that it was underpriced between 25 to 40 thousand dollars . I actually came up with it should of been listed between 420 to 429 thousand . It would still have been a good deal at my higher price . Most pending and sold houses I found  in that price range were 1700 to 2000 sqft . This house beats those in size at 2194

  6. This is exactly what I said on a different thread. What about the out of state hunters coming to NY to go deer hunting . Do they have to register their semi auto rifles like the Ruger 44 mag , Browning Bars , or Remington 740,742's and 7400's with NYS to go hunting ?  Even this memo outlining what legal doesn't make sense. In this memo it states you can use a semi auto rifle and only need to register it if you are buying one after Sept 4th     I guess this is what happens when a bunch of screwballs get together to whip up a bunch of laws on something they know nothing about ,  with no thinking involved

Give it to Wolc123 ,he can put it six feet up in a tree, and hunt out of it .

The funny part is I can actually picture Wolc setting up a ground blind ( AKA boat blind ) in the middle of that thing ! And it already comes with a built in seat !

  8. Dont ever believe a single word that comes out of this characters mouth from Maine ,  John Glowa . He has been trying to cripple hunting in Maine for years with his bullchit Maine Wolfe Coalition . He even claimed he found wolf crap at some " undisclosed " location in the North Maine Woods . So when Maine F+G investigated his claim not a single track or hair could be found anywhere . The rumor was he had his wolf activist buddy from Canada ship him  a pile of  wolf crap and he placed it there . He demanded that the state shut down all hunting on hundreds of thousands of acres to all hunting for a wolf sanctuary . Now he is sticking his nose in New York . He is the biggest flaming ahole you would ever meet . A wolf legend in his own mind. People up in Maine cant stand him .

While gray wolves regained protection under the federal Endangered Species Act in February, they were not covered when the hunter shot the wolf in December. “It is past time for state and federal agencies to get their collective heads out of the sand by doing the research and by giving wolves in the Northeast the protection they are legally entitled,” said John Glowa, president and co-founder of the Maine Wolf Coalition.
