it's a tough one for me. I'm a gun guy and have donated money to state org's trying to get some of our freedoms back or save the ones we have left. I also understand public land. I can be equally annoyed at mountain bikers as I can be at shooters, although only 1 can be a safety issue.

Ultimately, similar to small game hunters, a little courtesy goes a long way on shared land. At the end of the day, what's legal is legal and we have to accept that and it's also totally ok to be annoyed haha.

I know. I hate to be a dick and it was a nice day. But come on it was ridiculous.  Your going to seriously park right next to my car and blast away into the woods without knowing where, or which direction I went. Usually in the morning I like to sit pretty much right in the direction they were shooting. I guess I was raised with a little more common sense and courtesy.  I know they pulled up next to my car and said f him lol

Distance of expected shot is the factor thats important  buying a long range caliber for 70 yards shots  defeats the balistics..  when rifle was made legal guys bought 300 win mags .. a few years later all using short range guns like 3030 or 45 70.  Ect.. average shot 70 to 125 yards max..

Pretty sure they traded the 300 win mags in because a box of bullets is $100 now lol. Or because it gives you a slight concusion every time you shoot lol

Why im not fan of .243  this is from good friend  in southern tier ny.

My neighbors daughter shot this one during the youth hunt with a 243. 10 days later he's in one of my brassica plots eating. Sadly the cam was set for pics, but I believe the shoulder is broken, I think one of us will shoot him during the gun season, don't think he'll travel far. 78270.thumb.jpeg.3b26fc62453ba2a39369413ac026b7a2.jpeg78271.thumb.jpeg.d638f07ce1fa1ba62adf2f6999db8c03.jpeg

Proper bullet and proper placement are probably a factor  in this.  But  a slightly larger caliber  would give you a much better margin for error and penetration...

Holy crap! Did the bullet explode on impact? I usually have to search for the hole my 270 makes with a 130 grain the hole is so small.

It’s illegal year round on most state forests and DEp lands in SENY

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Sent my concerns to the forest ranger responsible for the land. He said he would look into it. State troopers use to patrol it. Got some dummy up there once with an AK and a bunch of 30 rd mags. Not that I'm against but the exact  opposite.  But pretty dumb to take them to state land and blast away. Lol

Wish us luck, son hit a buck little before 6. Shot was liverish area, it spun on the shot but was quartering  away on impact. Heading out in an hour to check were i saw it last before it went into thick cover.

Hit a deer like this 3 yrs ago. Waited 6 hrs and snuck back to where I saw him last. He was laying there dead. Lol

I understand the sentiment, but how far away were they ? Where I hunt , guys shoot somewhere around me almost everyday after work , and goose hunters are blasting away the next field over on most weekends .

My daughter, sil and myself sent a couple hundred rounds down range today , I’ll be on stand in the AM .

Pretty  sure they are shooting by where parked my car. About 300 yrds from me. Lol.

Maybe you can give me a break....Last time I stopped there ( for a coffee to get me back to my ship)  was about 4:00 am on a night in 1972....I had a shipmate with me and as we left the diner, a  cruiser with two troopers in it pulled us over...

Fortunately, we were sober, but one big ass trooper kept going through our duffel bags saying   " Got any pistols...Got any pistols  ??...."   He may have been  our accidental Governors father, or maybe grandpa...

What ship were you on? My dad was on the  Destroyer USS Loyd Thomas around then.
