From what I've heard that is true, but why spend the gas to pick and pile them?
Seen this on Northwoods law a few times. Gamewarden was stunned. Lol they Definitely going to hunt over it.

Cat, better shoot it. I heard they can decimate a deer herd quick.

Same for me with a .270, core lokt were the worst. I switched to the rem accu tip and that is leaving a larger hole.
Hornady superformance here. Really like how they expand. Looks like almost no weight lost. You can pour the insides out and they drop like a rock lol

Non HD I believe. To me the glass was still crystal clear.
Think I have the same ones. Wish I'd got the 50s and just delt with the extra bulk. I still hunt with bow and gun and 42 is just not enough glass imo.

Distance of expected shot is the factor thats important buying a long range caliber for 70 yards shots defeats the balistics.. when rifle was made legal guys bought 300 win mags .. a few years later all using short range guns like 3030 or 45 70. Ect.. average shot 70 to 125 yards max..
Pretty sure they traded the 300 win mags in because a box of bullets is $100 now lol. Or because it gives you a slight concusion every time you shoot lol

Why im not fan of .243 this is from good friend in southern tier ny.
My neighbors daughter shot this one during the youth hunt with a 243. 10 days later he's in one of my brassica plots eating. Sadly the cam was set for pics, but I believe the shoulder is broken, I think one of us will shoot him during the gun season, don't think he'll travel far.
Proper bullet and proper placement are probably a factor in this. But a slightly larger caliber would give you a much better margin for error and penetration...
Holy crap! Did the bullet explode on impact? I usually have to search for the hole my 270 makes with a 130 grain the hole is so small.

It’s illegal year round on most state forests and DEp lands in SENY
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProSent my concerns to the forest ranger responsible for the land. He said he would look into it. State troopers use to patrol it. Got some dummy up there once with an AK and a bunch of 30 rd mags. Not that I'm against but the exact opposite. But pretty dumb to take them to state land and blast away. Lol

Hit a deer like this 3 yrs ago. Waited 6 hrs and snuck back to where I saw him last. He was laying there dead. Lol

Pretty sure they are shooting by where parked my car. About 300 yrds from me. Lol.
Thing is they don't know where I am could be shooting at me.

I understand the sentiment, but how far away were they ? Where I hunt , guys shoot somewhere around me almost everyday after work , and goose hunters are blasting away the next field over on most weekends .
My daughter, sil and myself sent a couple hundred rounds down range today , I’ll be on stand in the AM .
Pretty sure they are shooting by where parked my car. About 300 yrds from me. Lol.

If anyone wants to get a petition going to make it illegal to target practice on state land past Sept. I'd sign it right now.

Zipped a coyote at 12 yards
Must have been a dumb yote. Every yote I've ever drawn my bow on has looked right at me and vacated post haste lol

Well I was expecting a little better today. But one 3 point and a doe and what sounded like a bunch of squirrel hunters blasting the other end of property up. NY never forgets to disappoint. But atleast it's consistent. Guess next week back to PA.

Sounds like first day of gun season up here in 4o. Did I miss the memo lol

Small buck just walked past. Looked like a little 3 point.

Maybe you can give me a break....Last time I stopped there ( for a coffee to get me back to my ship) was about 4:00 am on a night in 1972....I had a shipmate with me and as we left the diner, a cruiser with two troopers in it pulled us over...
Fortunately, we were sober, but one big ass trooper kept going through our duffel bags saying " Got any pistols...Got any pistols ??...." He may have been our accidental Governors father, or maybe grandpa...
What ship were you on? My dad was on the Destroyer USS Loyd Thomas around then.

Place I hunt is infested with them. Constantly picking them off my head.

Had 2 shots and 2 boosters. Plus 3 cases of covid lol. Last one a few weeks ago was the worst. Still have shortness of breath. Atleast my sense of smell finally came back.

I know. I hate to be a dick and it was a nice day. But come on it was ridiculous. Your going to seriously park right next to my car and blast away into the woods without knowing where, or which direction I went. Usually in the morning I like to sit pretty much right in the direction they were shooting. I guess I was raised with a little more common sense and courtesy. I know they pulled up next to my car and said f him lol
