Well the little guy could not overcome his injuries and succumbed, my best guess is he probably got rolled over by a vehicle.

You gave him a warm place, comfy bedding, and food. No better way to go when you're a wild animal.
Edit: To be honest, this post was a nice change of pace. As a relatively new hunter(3 years under my belt), I want to kill everything that moves. Sometimes I think I am losing my compassion for animals until I see things like this.

So in this morning's daylight I could see much better and it appears to me this Fox has an injury, having problems with his rear leg I think. Moved him to more comfortable and larger quarters, he has a good appetite as he has downed two quarter pound hamburgers. No big deal to wait and see if he can come along and get better physically.

Who is the "she" who doesn't want to drive an hour?
I'm a bit confused how some can be so sure that this and other deer shot by members in the past few weeks are definitely "dead deer". Most especially when hit with an arrow. Hopefully this one is dead and gets found, but others were not or never found. The only time I am ever 100% sure that any deer I shoot at is dead is when I walk up to it and it's not breathing. Otherwise I will NEVER be 100% sure that it's dead. They can be tenacious critters and can take a licking.
It was all the blood that swayed my opinion.
Plus, I was only 99.9997% sure. I did leave a margin for error.

So plan is to hunt the g2 buck unless I wake up to another picture of the buck from today. Only issue is I left my stand where I hunted this morning expecting to go back. So tomorrows morning hunt will be on the ground then going to run over and pull it if I haven’t punched my tag so I can get back for an afternoon sit.
Good luck!

Any chance anyone in or near 3M would be willing to swing by sometime and show me how to properly butcher a deer? I'll pay gas and beer! I'm not looking for someone to do it for me but really just to sit there and guide me.
Just butchered my first one today and it didn't go as well as I thought it was going to.

Tactacam Reveal, has both Verizon and AT&T models. One or the other, may get better reception where you are? Pick the one that does. I've been running them the last two years with no issues.
And like Tom suggested, Spartan is a top of the line camera.
This, I bought 5 Reveals this year, used verizon but they are also at&t compatible, no issues what so ever.

For my next "Live From The Woods" forum on the new site.......I hope it's that, talk about live from the woods and not just random chatter, like what people.....not in the woods are doing.
I rather like the small talk in-between in the woods updates

Either heat or lockdown. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Lockdown?
3 hours ago, Swamp_bucks said:Also just because you don’t have them on camera doesn’t mean they aren’t there. 2 weeks ago I had a big 6 walk just within range of my cell camera while I was on stand and he walked the other way never triggering the camera.
Very true, I've been told this before. I guess I was just curious as they were all over the cam before.

Yea, this pretty much started right about the pre rut.

For sure!
This year has really been my first year learning their movements. The cams really helped me figure things out.
Thanks for the responses gents.

This year I decided to try cell cams out.
They are a game changer....
I had quite a few deer patterned, each camera had action on it at least every other day since September. It got to the point where I was naming bucks.
BUT, for some reason, this last week my cameras have been completely dead. No movement, 4 days in a row, no deer. Previously, leading up to my dry spell, I had does running from bucks, the movement was constant.
The only thing that changed was the weather.... It went from constant 45degree days to in the 70s on a regular basis.
Could the heat altered their patterns that much?
Should I leave everything as is and see if the cold weather shifts their movements again?
What do you guys think?

I saw a nice buck this morning that passed just out of range, as usual. I grunted, he stopped and then walked off. After 15 minutes I saw a buck from the same direction... now I am second guessing if it was the same buck. Praying I find him. Gonna wait another hour.
Did you hear the crash???

Against my better judgement I went out for a sit this morning.
Got in a tree by 530, sun was already rising. Saw a skunk, tricked me for a second as I thought the white flash was a deer.
And then this happened. I saw a bobcat, had my bow on him, drew back, then let down. I guess the cat lover in me just couldn't do it. I'm pretty sure seeing a bobcat during light hours is very very very rare. They also aren't as big as I thought they were.
Anyway, no deer, decided to leave at 9:30.
Good luck to all that are still out.

Unless of course they use the illegal crossbow for other illegal activities and then they will just add the stupid law on the top of the other charges.
Very very good point.

I would like to alert you that I believe that particular crossbow will not be legal in New York as it does not meet the 17" minimum uncocked width from tip to tip. Please see the attached link for details. If you were not aware of this you may want to cancel your order. valoroutdoors.com. https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/68802.html
Oh damn, well that would be a bummer if that was the case.
I guess I'll check if its legal in PA and Jersey as I have tags to fill there as well.
Edit: I was just browsing all the crossbows on ravins site and I guess not a single one of them is NY State legal?!?

My buddy just texted me, shot his first ever deer(doe). He's using a bow which makes it even more impressive. Told me he heard the crash.
I'll be heading over there shortly to help him out.
