Yeah guys thanks, just looked and 8 lbs is kind of heavy, thanks for that link 13BVET, maybe thats the answer but the kids gun has no sites and no scope mount. I'm in no hurry so I can wait till I find something.

for my twin 9yr old twin boys. Trying to keep it under $200.00 , should I look into buying used, benjamin nitro piston looks cool + it comes with a scope. Just looking to plink and rodent control for myself.

Hello guys, I will be doing a lot of work on Long Island this spring and summer and will have time to shoot during the daytime/evening on occasion. I will be working around the Nassau / Suffolk border area in different towns. Where can I shoot my bow, I never get to shoot indoors and will be looking forward for that opportunity. I dont mind driving a little way to get there and hopefully will also get a chance to shoot a couple different bows (Bowtech Insanity cpxl or Elite Pure) as I am thinking of getting a target bow and I have a long 32" DL. Thanks for letting me know where I can accomplish these wishes.

I brown the venison after cutting it into cubes, salt pepper, garlic and into the crockpot with some beef broth. I throw in onion, carrrots, flour and some burgundy ( or any good red ) wine along with a boullion cube or two and let it cook for a dozen hrs.

One of the things I do when hunting is go through my mental checklist before releasing an arrow at an animal and one of the last things on that checklist is pull back to the wall, then settle the pin on a small spot and release. I have to check myself often when practicing to be sure I'm not creeping but I guess my Bowtech is a little more forgiving in that area but not much. Can't wait for the chance to shoot an Elite, hope the chance comes soon.

If you can, don't pass up an oppurtunity to visit The Catskill Region, it's the birthplace of american fly fishing. Great rivers, streams, creeks, brooks and a fly fishing museum add up to a memorable experience. Soak up some fly fishing history and go back in time.

Ha Ha yeah, knuckle dragger for sure BUT... I pick up quite a few extra fps with those gorilla arms and long draw!
Long draw bow choices are limited but there are some really good ones out there now compared to years ago, some real shooters, the longer ATA are more forgiving.

Shot this one in NJ during winter bow two weeks ago. Fat one, what a hard drag she was, three bags of meat outta this girl, italian sausage, burger, steaks and straps. Maybe one more to top of the freezer.

Insanity cpxl goes to 32", I have Bowtech Commander now and I'm at 31 1/2" on that so I guess the loop makes a difference and it feels comfortable at a 31 1/2".

I have a 32' draw length and heard good things about Elite, was also thinking Bowtech Insanity but I like the idea of saving a lot of money by buying leftover or used Pure.

Elite bows are sweet, I would love one hanging in my shop but with kids money is tight so I am still have a ton of fun with my Bowtech Commander, it's a binary tack driver for sure.

I shot this fat girl in New Jersey last week, she had a fat gut and big head, she was the local monarch of the area and always avoided me although never really pinpointing my exact location. She was a wary beast that I finally outsmarted by moving my stand several times till she made a mistake.

You can do better than 10-12 a day, sheesh, double that number at least. JK, It's fun with new gear, I love my QAD and yours needs to be set up properly to be certain of no fletching contact, it may take a bit so go easy and have fun shooting.

Good ole Thunderheads for me, they've been around a long time with very few, simple changes. Sharp as all heck right out the package with devestating results giving great bloodtrails a blind man could follow providing you do your part.

Yeah, "Barbed" heads are illeagal. Go with a cut on contact fixed two blade for best penetration, not that a fixed three blade or even a mech head won't kill a deer, but you will get the most out of your kinetic energy by having less resistance.

Stay with a fixed blade head, for lower poundage the best would be Magnus Stinger, I shoot Thunderheads and have been for over twenty years, they are good solid, inexpensive heads and any broadheads you choose can be bought cheaper on ebay or better yet on Archerytalk.com. I buy on there all the time to try different heads and always wind up getting my Thunderheads cheaper there than anywhere.

I have butchered a couple and really don't have the time it takes to do it properly. My yield is not great and it takes me forever to process the whole deer, if I was better at it maybe I would not mind so much but the only way to get better is to keep doing it, so catch 22. Wish I could watch some pro butcher for a couple of deer then I could learn a few tricks. Youtube is ok but not like watching someone in person.

There are always things to learn in the woods. With all the cover/leaves down and the ability to see farther and just more clearly, especially into dense areas, there is always something to learn. The lay of the land, feeding, bedding, travel corridors and watering areas all seem easier to find on a clear (realatively) warm winter day. The deer may be in a winter pattern but you can still learn things by scouting in the winter. Main trails, rubs, secondary trails, good ambush sites, may find a shed or two, some deer may still be holding bone and of course finding big tracks mean big deer. I find new places and stand sites in the winter with the visability better.
Spring is also a good time for scouting, snow is gone and before the leaves get going you can still see far plus the sign from the fall activity is still there waiting to be learned from. Most don't want to scout in the fall and disturb an area they are hunting so springtime scouting is the answer.
