  1. Thanks guy's, he had an 18" inside spread. Made a bucket with heating element in it and cooked him for a few hours with no time to finish this past weekend so he is sitting in the bucket all week till I can get back to it this weekend.

  2. I am doing a euro mount on this guy because in my 1850 built home the ceilings are kinda low. I will be hanging him in the shed with my other euro mounts. I never did put a tape on him, I can't wait to get him back from the butcher and do some measuring. He is on the wide side.

I saw eight bucks on Veterans Day Nov 11, it was the peak of the rut with the two bigger deer ( a 10 & a 8 ) locked on to hot doe's. The smaller bucks ( small 8's & 6's ) running around frantically, it was the best day I ever had for watching deer, no shot presented itself on the bigger deer and I passed on the smaller ones. It was the peak of the rut and I sat in my tree all day.

  3. First off one brow tine is broken so reality it's a nine, but in MY book it's a TEN.

Work schedule has prevented me from hunting NYS so far this year, last year I passed on a 6 but I did get to shoot big coyote. Got this guy Sunday morning in Monmouth County, NJ on a horse farm my FIL owns. I passed on many 6's and 8's and even saw bigger 10's but this 10 presented me with a shot. The rack does have some character with a forked G2 and near the end of each main beam are Bot Fly holes which are pretty neat.

  4. Ask around and find another butcher, freezer paper or that cellophane is so 1960's. I will not go to a butcher that does not vacuum seal and as far as labeling goes all my butcher writes on each package is either steak, ground, roast, stew, backstrap or tenderloin. He also makes sausage, jerky and a whole bunch more.

$85.00 is on the high side, I know guys at $90.000 my guy is $75.00 for basic cuts and with 12 lbs of Italian sweet sausage it will come to $100.

  5. My first time ever hunting I used my friends 30-30 lever action. I had put in many a weekend scouting and was all set for the gun opener. I shot a doe and 3 seconds later the buck that was following her that I did not know was there, I shot two deer in 3 seconds and my season was over. That was 25 years ago and I never used a firearm to hunt deer ever again, it's been bow and arrow from my second season till my 25th. I have taken well over 50 deer with my bow partly because I have hunted in NJ last 15 years which has an unlimited bag limit on doe. No better rush than up close and personal with a whitetail... doe or buck.

  6. I gave up on my garden, it was 20'x20' and had tomatoes, peppers, broccoli and asparagus. I had chicken wire fencing buried 12" into ground plus a two foot apron around perimeter and fence was six feet high. Still the rabbits, ground hogs, deer and other critters would wait till everything was getting ready to begin a harvest and then get in and wipe it out in ONE night. This would happen every year so I simply gave up. Short of shooting them with a .22 cal nothing worked for me, not trapping or repellents.

  7. Quiet and low vibration, a sweet shooter for sure.

I bought a used 2012 Elite Pure last summer and it's been a great hunting bow, I shoot Black Eagle Rampage arrows and tip them with Muzzy 3 blade 100gr. As long as I judge distance correctly my arrows are on the money.

I shot four doe but missed on a good 8pt when I had to twist and the string caught my harness, 2014 was a good bow season.
