  1. I still get the online ones ( if you call customer service they'll send again), and like RHM_ny, I took advantage of the $10 due to this past weekend's computer glitch, combined w/ a $50 gift card I had, and got a new nikon range finder for $119 + shipping !

  2. So, exactly how do you get a full-grown man out of a tree when he's dangling a bunch of feet off the ground. I've been trying to picture how I would go about it, but I can only visualize one rescuer on the ladder at a time. I suppose they may have gotten the ladder next to the guy so he could get on it. But supposedly he had some sort of ankle injury. Also they had to unfasten him from the tether. It's the kind of thing that sounds like it might be pretty easy to say, but not so easy to do .... lol.

With this type of rescue I would have to say some sort of come along or pully system using FD ladders with the victim secured in a stokes basket, then lowered to the ground would be my guess

If anyone on here is from the BCS FD or a neighboring FD with knowledge of the incident that could share the particulars of the rescue would be appreciated.

  3. I would not be embarrased at all, the harness did it's job and he lived to tell about it hoping the guys who dont think they need the harness read this

Although they don't need or want it..... kudos to my brother firemen for getting him out of the tree I'm quite sure it was not an easy job .

  4. Congrats to the youth who took their first deer. Way to go !

No luck for my son, but as I stated in another post it's about being out there with the kids, having fun and making memories. We had a good time, shared some laughs and got out in the woods, I hope all the mentors had fun as well.

Oh and by the way, we hunted different spots every day and saw no other hunters, so as far as the youth hunt ruining things for the others did not happen in our neck of the woods!

  5. My son is 14, primed and ready to go. Looking forward to being out there with him. Dont even care if he shoots a deer, I just feel fortunate to have the opportunity to hunt and pass along a tradition my dad started with me when I was young.

Additionally, I still enjoy hunting w/ my dad, even though he does not go out as often as he used to since he is approaching 79 in October he's slowed down a few steps, but can still shoot w/ the best of them.

  6. I ran into a small problem trying to ship a gun back to Mossberg for a problem w/ the safe not working properly.

Was told by Mossberg to contact either UPS or Fedex and should be no problem. Went to the UPS store where the SOB behind the counter told me to read the sign behind counter which amongst other things stated no guns, explosives blah blah blah.....when I furhter questioned him about what Mossberg rep stated he told me they dont know what they are talking about.

On way back home I run into a Fedex guy in 7-11 ask him same question, you would have thought I had 3 heads the way he looked at me and he told me same thing. NO GUNS thru Fedex.

I then called Fedex main line explain my dilemma and the rep tells me I can ship a gun and rattles off several locations for me to do so.

Prior to shipping I went to the drop location spoke w/ the guy who gave me a box, bubble wrap and was happy to have my business.

Has anyone else ever ran into this type of run around ?

  7. Just picked up my new "Riot" and love shooting it.

For those of you who dont know Mission is made by Mattews but not as pricey as a matthews, did not want to break the bank and am very happy with everything so far.

Looking forward to Oct 1st. Good luck to everyone !

  8. One product that works pretty good for poison ivy/oak/sumac is Zanfel. They sell it at drug stores and walmart. It is a cream that you scrub on the affected area. Stops the itch almost immediatly and the rash begins to heal fairly quickly. Its about $30 for a small tube, but well worth it. Only think that I have found to work.

    amen to that !

the stuff is like gold if u get a case of poison ivy, and when u do scrub w/ this stuff which has the consisency of sand it feels good because it's like scratching the affected area.

Usually clears within a day or two
