  1. Thanks guys! I'm blessed with such great hunting property and good neighbors. I will do a Euro mount on this one. Last count there have been 15 buck and 10 doe killed this season between the neighbors. My camp has 4 buck 2 doe in that count. Here are the big three we got. 2 and 3 out of the same stand along with 2 doe. First picture was from a stand 100 yards away.

  2. What an afternoon. I get to my stand at 3:30 wind , temps were perfect. I hear a shot not too far away. Sounded like it was on my property. My neighbor gets back to me that there was a button buck in my corn field with the ass eaten out of it. Just standing there shaking. Seems like the yotes got this deer but didn't finish the process. Guys it was gross what I saw. He put the deer down. A good thing. So about 4:15 to my right I see two large deer. I have no idea if they were two bucks or a buck locked onto a doe. All I know is the buck started heading my way. It was a real nice 10 pt. Shooter goes off in my mind. I think that second deer was another buck but I never saw horns. So here he comes at 30 yards slight quarter to. I put a slug through the front shoulder and it exits through ribs. He goes down in front plowing up the leaves. I knew I had a good hit but he got out of sight. I get down and head for where I last saw him. Took a few minutes but I found him. Beautiful 10 pt. One tine was sligfhtkly broken and he had a scar on the upper part of nose. I thought that this could of been the buck that My neighbor and I hit opening day. Upon looking at the deer the back hoof was shot off. It was dangling and he was walking on bone. My neighbor and I agreed the buck on opening day was much bigger.  I was thrilled to get this deer this late in season. 5 seconds before I shot this deer my brother texted. Telling me to shoot a big one so you can spend more time with your girlfriend! It worked!!!! Enjoy the picts.

  3. I'm in 8P. Since I bought here in 2007 we have seen more and more bears. Neighbor behind me shot one once. I could of a few times but there was no season. The general sentiment about them is to kill them all. A lot of guys believe they are massive fawn killers. I saw those three cubs a few weeks ago and someone told me I should of shot them all dead.

So like the 'gadget sucker" I am I got one of those tracking lights mentioned above, had some deer blood from the Doe I took the other day and gave the light a test to see what it does. It definitely will make any blood stand out when the light hits it, I can see it would help recovery of a deer in some cases.

    Al

Anytime of the day or does it have to be night?

  5. So I get out of work by 1:30 get home by 2. In the woods by 2:30 most of the time. Today it was 3:30 in the woods down to a spot wher I shot at the big buck on opening day. I'm not giving up on not seeing him again. Got a strange feeling. So it's 4:15 gotta pee so I go and turn around and a small spike is 30 feet from me. You can't hear them in the snow. He snorts and runs to the planted pines. FML I say. Should I stay or hunt my way out? I stayed and started to do some doe calls and buck grunts. 5 minutes later here come 4 doe from trhe pines where the spike went. They go right past me. Looked like 1 mature doe with 3 yearlings. I was happy I stayed. 10 minutes later here come 3 more doe from another direction. They head to the pines and out of the corner of my eye I see a big dark brown deer coming up my left shoulder. He was big so I was excited to think it might be that buck or another mature buck. As he cleared some trees I saw he was an 8 pt with a small rack. Body size was big and he was all rutted up but not the deer I was looking for. I have no idea if my grunting stirred up the deer or not? It didn't bother them!

So the 60 I hunt has about 30 in golden rod , rest woods and scrub brush

He is going to lease the 30 to plant corn .. I’m thinking this may help me as long as they cut it or some of it before season ??

Sounds like my place, I have 20 acres in corn. They cut it this year the Monday after the opener. I don't put any pressure on the farmer to cut it. Cut corn field is great to hunt late season. They always leave some standing for the deer, nice of them!

No shots fired at PA camp for the guys, TONS of small bucks, 4 bucks fighting at once, then a 7 and 8 fighting. Guys are still out now but I'm back at work, hoping to get back out Friday in NY, would like to shoot one more doe. Neighbor got the Big 7 point just off our property sat evening.  Brought my son out sun/MOn to try to get his first buck, but no such luck.

My next door neighbor left and did the Maryland opener and finished up at their PA camp opener. They actually have to take a boat to the camp and hike in. Been in the family many years. One of these years I'll go!

I took the morning off and then went this evening for the last couple hours. Another sit without any deer seen, and other than 2 shots from way off, absolute silence.

Same here, two shots thats it. We really have a huge moon out there???? Just picked up a deer from the butcher he is at 320 which is ok not great. Said the weekend was real slow.

  9. It's like everyone leaves after opening weekend and that's it. Heard 2 shots this afternoon. I have way too much private land around me that does not get pressured. We are all good friends so you can go wherever. I was hoping my crew would come back up but too many commitments. I have to start reading up on low pressure areas and late season hunting. Think out of the box!

  10. This weekend was pretty slow. Saw a few Doe and 1 nice 6 pt too small for me to shoot. So few weeks a go my brother is bow hunting and a grey house cat comes along with a Doe in tow. The Doe followed the cat. I brushed it off but on Saturday morning here comes the grey house cat with the 6pt following it. Weirdest thing! My neighbor shot a Coywolf Sunday. Weighed 60 lbs. Big dog!!!! The guy holding it is over 6'.
