What is this country coming to??
chrismgon replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I disagree with the removal as well but... Who is 'Our'? This country was formed by immigrants. You must be Native American? Just pointing out what many forget. You might be right though. History proves immigrants/foreigners are capable of removing 'natives' and claiming as their own. Shoot, even Texas was truely Mexico at one point. Now they are treated like they never belonged. -
I was in Cherry Ridge Wild Forest.

2011/12 Predator Success Pics Thread
chrismgon replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
awesome, I was wondering when this post would start filling up with pics Congrats! I am going to spend this weekend hunting yotes and then took a full week off 23-27 to do half day of yote hunting each day (skiing the rest). I developed a small home made electronic call I hope to take the sound away from my stand which I recently setup and hope to see some wildlife Will post results if any. I realized what everyone says, hunting yotes is damn freaking harder than deer! -
Hey CTHunter, I see plenty of grouse around my way , 4P, however I am about 2 for 50 getting them on the wing lol. You should try the State land in Colchester (near Roscoe). I've scouted there this year for deer and kept pushing grouse. Though I was never ready for them!

Some Marines are in trouble
chrismgon replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Gotta disagree. We are all human, however evil some actions are (plenty going on even here in the USA), and I believe this nation should lead by example. If it were the other side doing that it would be World War 3. Nobody is above the law, not police, not marines. Always keep in mind nobody chooses where they are born. We are fortunate to be born in this great Country. I wouldn't put them in Jail, but definitely make an example and discharge. Gotta have honor even in times of war. -
I never knew this until this year but some guys skin and quarter out their meat right there. Check this vid: One of those pics looks like this was done maybe... maybe not

On to the predators...
chrismgon replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Got any good tips on hunting yotes? I hear them around. I've tried the rabbit distress call, it does not work like the CD of Tim Wells it came with (knight and hale) lol. I saved a bucket of blood/parts from my deer kills in the freezer, so hope to bait em. Though I much rather try the calling. What times do you hunt for predator? Lights? Thanks in advance! -
You really make no sense, get yourself together. The website is just a tool, it has no ideology. Each person has their own ideology. Respect others opinions as they have to read and respect yours. Just because people do not agree with you does not mean you have to go Postal lol.

My opinion. It is a great way to see nature, for the whole family, yes. However, it should not be legal to hunt from. I should not even say 'hunt' from, I mean pull a trigger from. We are losing more and more hunters, and new hunters are not growing into better woodsman due to baiting and fences already. Add this to the equation and it just keeps going downhill for hunting. We do this for a few reasons. Not only because it is tradition, in our blood, and we want to eat real natural meat, but also because we enjoy being in the mountains/fields/forests, closer to nature don't we? We are a different breed aren't we? We are hunters. Onwards and upwards. Learn skills, defy odds, and have pride and respect for your quarry. That is my belief and hope to pass it down someday.

That is amazing! I am all up for a night of braised Grouse but that guy seems to friendly to hurt lol. I've attempted to bow one from my stand once (missed by an inch twice!) but I don't think I would have the heart to grab him and wring his neck in that situation. I'd probably name him lol.

nice! this is my favorite for celebrating deer. I had this stuff the night I got my buck two friday's ago. I cut out the filet mignon and cooked with garlic and olive oil and bam, Sangre de Toro!

Exactly my feeling, just knowing the work I put in, it could have been a 4 pointer. Thanks guys. I am back in Queens but still on cloud 9. I attempted the same method in the Adirondacks state land the past 2 years but no luck. Looking forward to next year in the Northern Zone though! Will be scouting it up. And same method, backpack stand, bow, knife, rope!

Thanks. Here is another pic that shows the 3 smaller points better. One was abnormal. I knew something with nice antlers was around because a large sapling was rub with gauges dug deep inside of it. Probably the abnormal point It was in 4P, around the Pepacton Reservoir. No DMP, not many deer really. Have not seen a buck in years. Took me going up the mountain to his home to see em.

Hey, Here is my very first Catskill Mountain Buck. Got him way up a Mountain and feel very accomplished after a year of scouting, legwork and old skool methods. Just a rope, knife and stackable portable stand on my back. Is this a 9 pointer, small yes, but does it classify as such? Taxidermist said yes. I thought 6 pointer. Then again each point is at least 1 inch. Either way, I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY! Also got my first Male with the bow this year up there, spike. Very proud of him too! Thanks, Chris
