  1. havent gone back to the property since. trying to let things die down for gun season.hope hes still alive. my guess is hes back in the median of 81 where he has lived his whole life without getting smeared on the highway. I doubt i will see him again.
  2. Well i dont know what to say. He came in Saturday morning. I shot him at 10 yrds quartering away. Lots of blood within 40 yrds but my heart sank when it wasnt pink and bubbly. I trailed him for 300 yrds or so and jumped him out of his 2nd bed. He stood there for a little bit and I could see I hit him high behind his shoulder exiting out the front. Let him go for 5 hrs and came back. I ran into him walking around in an oak grove limping a little but other wise he looked unscathed. I tried putting a stalk on him again and got within 50 yrds where he spotted me and ran off like there wasnt a thing wrong with him. I came back the next morning and searched the whole property and never saw him again. This just sucks. Dont know what happened. Shot felt good was aiming behind his rib cage to get the correct angle and everthing. Took my bow out and shot it to make sure everything was ok and it shot fine. Just blew it somehow. :banghead:
  3. This is blades main rival i would think. I shot his grandfather or father a few yrs back looked just like him. I call this guy tree crusher. Watched him snap a wrist size pine tree in half last yr from my stand.
  4. Its always been that way. I call him blade cause he has the long spike on the one side and he always looks like he wants to shank someone. lol. He has a few ofspring running around to. I have blade jr on cam for 2 yrs now. looks the same just smaller. must be a genetic thing.
  5. Crazy thing is no one hs ever laid eyes on him ever. Ive hunted him for the last three yrs and he just appears out of nowhere and then hes gone again till next sept oct.
  6. Ive had him on camera for 3 yrs and he was a decent deer the first time i saw him. This yr he just blew up like he was on steriods or something. You should see him next to a doe its crazy they look like fawns.
  7. To the best of my Knowledge he is 5 yrs old.
  8. Been going out alot but havent seen a musky in a month or so. On the bright side ive gotten alot of 20 to 21 inch pig smallys. not musky but ill takem
  9. 5 hrs on saturday. Caught a 32 in northern and a 18 in smallmouth no muskys. Spent most of the day sunday on a boat up in windsor on the suck and caught a handfull of nice smallys but not even a follow up from a musky.
  10. Got out yesterday for 6 hrs on the suck. Ended up with 7 walleye 2 Cats. biggest eye was 26" and both cats were 28"s. The first cat I caught i swore it was a musky. That fish fought like crazy. The second one i knew it was a cat again from the feel on the line from the first one.
  11. No but tell me more lol
  12. Havent got out musky fishing lately. Crappies are bitting on a local lake so ive been busy filling the freezer with fillets for the winter. Nice smallies. Last weekend I got out for a bit maybe 5 hrs and only caught a 20 in smally and a 22 inch walleye no ski's.
  13. Went out last night for about 11/2 hrs before dark. was around 7:45 and I had to head home to get ready to go to work and decided on one more cast after landing a 18in pig smally and wammo got a 381/2 in musky on the last cast of the day. Got him in the shallow water and measured him. was in the process of taking the hook out and getting a pic of him and he flipped out and swam off befor i could get a pic. Very pretty fish was a little upset i couldnt get a pic but oh well. need to get one of those large rubber nets or make a craddle for them. problem is i usually walk up to three miles on the river at a time so would make it hard to carry either. But number 3 for the yr is in the books. still working on trying to get one over 45 in for the yr.which is my goal. Would love to get a 50incher but i think they are far and few inbetween for a river musky. Have only seen them dead that big on the river. You figure a 40 in fish is roughly 10 yrs old so a 50 in fish would have to be close to 20ish. which is a long time to live succesfully on the suck.
  14. They are on the whole river from top to bottom. PA did a good job stocking them in there waters and they have spread everywhere. Problem is a private study I have read on line. This guy tagged his own fish on a river in ohio and some of the tagged fish were re caught 20 miles from where he caught them. So they have a fairlly large range following the bait fish up and down the river. So the only thing I can say is do what I do. Cast once and move down 20 ft cast again. Fish a hole from top to bottom them move to another area. If a musky is in there and its hungry it will bite. Ive caught them in knee deep water and 40 ft holes. They dont call them the fish of 10,000 cast for nothing. I fished for them for 3 months before landing the first one.
  15. Size limit for pike is 18in. Good luck to him trying to eat the boney slimmy thing and out of the river to boot. yuck. lol. I was standing on that log behind you for a bit so I could get a better view with my glasses to see anyfollow ups a few weeks earlier. lol
  16. Ummmmm why would you want your lic. on camo anyhow? I had just shot a doe a few yrs ago and took the tag out and fillled it in. I set the tag on the deer and turned to my butt pack to get my knife out. Turned around and the tag was gone. A gust of wind had blown it off the deer. After 45 min of searching I finally found it 20 ft from the deer. Color of the tag was brown. you drop a camo one you will prolly never find it. I dont even touch my lic. now till Im ready to pull the deer back to the car. I wont unattach it from the rest of the tags till im loading deer in the car either. Id take yellow or orange any day over camo.
  17. Fished for 18 hrs this weekend and never even saw a musky or pike. Just a handfull of greedy smallmouth. Water temp in the suck has really dropped over the last few weeks due to the cooler weather which i beleive has turned the fish off. Fishing should hopefully heat up again as the Fall gets closer. Unfortunatelly or fortunately i guess depends on how you look at it, I have three 4 yr old bucks in need of an arrow so the best musky time in the fall i will prolly be in a tree unless i connect early.
  18. Yeah i guess PA has been stocking them over in Hallstead for yrs now and they have taken hold so they stopped stocking tigers. Now the only place it seems they stock the tigers in Long Pond and Chenango Lake in Broom county. Which is to bad. Had a buddy who use to get some real slammers out of Whitney point above and below the Dam. Not sure if pure musky live in their or not.
  19. Not sure about musky behind kmart. I know they use to get the hybrids back there long ago when they stocked them, but it seems a bit dirty for pure strain. They prefer the clear clean waters further up near cv or cf or up near green. Have never got a musky in the chenango actually. Just Northerns. Have had some real beasts on at goudy while walleye fishing and found a 55 in dead musky down around murphys. I hear between appilacian and owego is good for them also but still havent caught one down there.
  20. Smallies have been little slow this yr tho I got about 15 of them Saturday night. Yeah right behind kmart it was in the spring tho so the water was a little deeper there. Went down the other night and it was only knee deep right now. Plus it smelled like there was a dead body around somewhere. must be from all the sewer running in from the drains.Fish must have moved down out of one of the pools up around otsinango park. Total fluke, my daughter caught him on corn fishing for carp. Other fish were caught up stream from windsor and down in Johnson city.
  21. Also all fish were immediatly released after some very quick pics. If you catch them like this get a replica. They are much nicer than the real thing anyhow. I know this will prolly tick off some taxidermists but put them back. Took them a long time to get that big.
  22. Fish from earlier posts
  23. Well after a dry spell I finally connected this weekend with a couple of nice fish. Landed a nice 36in Northern on Saturday night. Sunday I went with a friend in a boat and landed a nice 40in Musky at around 7am. Also had my first follow up while doing a figure 8 next to the boat. Fish was close to a 50incher. Its quite a shock to the old nervous system when out of no where you have 4 ft fish chasing your lure around in circles right at the boat. Sent me into immediate buck fever. Was an awesome time.
