5 doe so far. Chose to pass on one that came into range. Not a bad first sit of the season
-
Lol I shot my buck last year and it died on the road my truck was on. Crazy
-
Cant tell me there's nothing more frustrating than another hunter walking under you waving...
-
You need to buy a good one. You get what you pay for. I went out and bought a summit open shot two years ago. Its 14 pounds, quiet and i can unpack it and climb in about 5 minutes. really important to practice with what you have first or it'll become frustrating.

i dig that spot.

Grab yourself 300ft of rope and start climbing down. I will show ya where they are! Just make sure you make yourself a buddy to drag for you though. Take a hand cart, mount a winch with at least 500ft of cable on it, Lay a couple marine batteries on the handcart to charge the winch. When you kill that buck down there you take the cart to the edge of the gorge, Rachet strap the cart to a tree and throw the hook down to your buddy on the bottom. He hooks the buck to the sleds( That stay down there all year) and start the winch. Up he comes! Notice...I say buck and he? If someone shoots a doe or a buck they dont plan on mounting down there when they are hunting with me....There on their own!!!
Note...I have never seen another tree stand where i hunt on the bottom!
Lol feel free to show me where they are! I do mist of my hunting off dygert Rd on the east side

Letchworth is great during bow season, awful after opening weekend of gun. I saw more mature bucks last year than any prior year and I'm expecting it to be even better this year
-
Im pushin the big 50 come Nov and im in pretty decent shape but man i went down to Letchworth this past weekend and 3 times of climbing up and down 300ft of rope shows ya just how much decent shape may not cut it. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do to tag those ridge runners!
lol im 23 and i struggle in Letchworth!

is it me or does he have a really big dome. Look how separated his brows are lol

I'm 23 as well. I work as a process and chemical engineer at Dupont. It was not my first choice for a career. I never graduated college but was fortunate enough to work in Pennsylvania for a summer and that experience alone was enough to land me this job. Like I said it was not my first choice but I grew to love it and would not have changed a thing.
-
Anyone ever hunt it? overcrowded?
-
I work on lexington ave in Rochester at Dupont near Kodak park. I worked an overnight last night and saw three bucks sparring around 4 am. I was inside and they were out the Window only ten yards away. I'm pretty sure I've seen these three bucks the past few years I've worked there they all look around three years old. One things for sure... It got me fired up!

Good old 04 dakota SLT. Zero issues, 125xxx miles. No rust Maryland vehicle.

I think part of it has to do with the map on the DEC site is total garbage. Theres hidden spots back in there that people do not know of because the land is pretty segregated. I also think people shy away form it because its close to the lake . Oh well. It has been a decent little spot to cure the fever until Letchworth opens up....three weeks into the season...
-
I hunted there probably ten evenings last season. Only saw maybe 3 other trucks the whole time. I saw at least 3 doe every night , strangely no bucks although i saw plenty of sign. I had a buddy miss a big ten there a few years ago. I dont think it sees much pressure early October. I know what strip of hardwoods your talking about, ive never scouted it but it looks good from a distance lol
-
Live from the living room waiting until October 1!

So I hunted here the anyone ever hunt here? It's around 6000 acres mainly wetlands but I have hunted there a few times and saw a handful of doe. There's not really a good map of the land on the dec site.

Last year I saw nine different bucks chase one doe. At 8 in the morning she came through hot. Within the next ten minutes the nine bucks, all individuals, we're on her trail. An hour layer she came back the same way. Of course all nine bucks were still on her. One of the most funny things I've seen.

This is the most bizarre thread I've ever read.

Summit open shot. Easily one if the best on the market for bow hunting
-
Me too and seems like the only way to go in most cases. Plus it's fun.
haha i agree man. I couldnt survive dragging a big buck out of that bottom. I shot one last year on the bottom and literally couldnt get it 6 feet up the gorge.
