  1. Ended up getting my first climber today. The cost kept me away for the longest but they were not getting any cheaper lol. I have ladder stands and hang ons and I always seem to not like the position or height choice so I figured a climber is the best way to stay mobile. And the deer patterns change so much around here when cold and rut comes in to play.

If I didn't have a dinner date with the ol lady I would be testing it out this evening, Grrr lol.

  2. Its nuts for me cause the best shot ive ever made to this day was my first bow kill doe years ago. Straight threw the heart she ran 25 yards or so and was done. That's the pro.

Now the con is the first buck I ever shot and killed with my bow. Mis judged distance and ended up shooting low. I remember making a post on here about it and loosing sleep. I trailed that deer for 200+ yards of blood trail that started out so good I thought for sure I was going to find em with my every next step. He made his was to some marsh/swamp land and I lost blood. Found all bones and skull after the snow melted and I could see everything.

Shooting a mechanical Broadhead to make up for a poorly tuned bow is the absolute worst advice you can give. Mechanicals take more energy to open and penetrate than a cut on contact and if your bow isn’t properly tuned you’re loosing energy by not having your nock directly behind the head.

I can shoot any cut on contact 100gn head with my setup from the biggest 4 blades to the big 2 blades and be very very close to the same poi.

I agree 100% not to make a excuse for a poorly tuned bow, and that's not what i'm doing.  You guys are missing my point!  It may not be the bow and just be the broadhead. That's what i'm getting at. He said he just had the bow in a shop already.

I have a brand new Matthews Traix everything is in sync for 100% and I bet that bow wont shoot a 3 blade muzzy in the same place as a field point. And ill give it a try tomorrow and post pics with honest results rather right or wrong.

I am not sure i have enough umph for a mechanical head. The bow is set at 55#.

I might try to have them shorten the arrows i have, they could loose maybe 2". I hope that will help, and then i can get a different set up without this time crunch.

I just want the BH to hit consistently, then i can move the sight and call it good for this year.

A 3 blade muzzy and a field point are not going to shoot the same pattern im telling you. 55lb is plenty of pull to get good results. Id bet anything dam near if you sight your field points in and you are getting decent groups throw a rage or similar (I only say rage cause that's what I used so I am familiar with results) on and they will be grouped same as field points.

I went threw the same problem. That's how I figured I knew what BH you were talking about. I had 10 different people tell me 10 different things. I switched from 3 blade muzzy to Rage and never looked back. Good luck. Find a friend that shoots rage or buy a pack give it a try.

    yup

De spite what everyone says they really don't shoot like a field point. Try a different broadhead before tuning anything. Rage shoots like a feildpoint for sure. Try that you will be good to go. im like 90% sure of it

  6. Sorry fellas I worded that wrong. 340 was the max speed of bow. With my set up im steady around the 285-292 give or take a few fps. 350gr arrow. Ive been shooting and adjusting as I go.

Final set up it going to be 28 inch draw and about a half turn off from max 70lbs so say 68lbs. 350gr arrow and shooting rage broad heads.

  7. Specs are 28 inch axle to axle. Draw set at 27. And pull is set at 65 give or take a pound. Went with the army camo and then added green strings and a green QAD hdx drop away. Getting 340fps. Smooth draw cycle and solid back wall. Stacks arrows at 30 yards.

Just got my first 3D deer target so ive been shooting out at 50ish yards away with good results.

Pics to come of the set up it looks pretty sharp.

  8. I have a two part question that I figured i'd make on thread about.

Question 1. Anyone else noticing a high number of yotes around?  Ive always had them in certain spots but seems their numbers are growing and they are coming closer and closer to city limits

And two. Seems like a lot of late blooming deer still seeing baby fawns all over. Will most likely be covered with spots still on opening day of bow. Any one else seeing the same?
