  1. Outside of a few hot spots that I leave stands at all year round I still have a ton to do. I went out today cleared out a few trails with the saw hung another camera at a new path I found with a bunch of dog prints. Patterns have yet to change with the weather. When it gets colder and everything starts to die off it's a whole new ball game. Almost that time of year.

I never wash change clothes spray anything never seems to matter to the deer. My scent and presences is well known year around by the deer,as I want it.

Grow, you got hard horns up there already?

  3. Get in the woods. Got some bucks on camera. Lot of night pics but he looked like he was chasing that doe. Get up in the stand spray some buck bomb and hope for the best you know there are bucks near by. Good luck !!

  4. HuntOrBeHunted.. Hunting is like a equal to ambition for me. The thought of never settling and always striving for better. Always hunting for a better Job, House, Truck, life in general. Be humbled and happy with everything I have earned but always hunt for more. Or be hunted... The lazy guy or the person looking for a hand out. The prey in life. Idk just my 2 cents. And today is Friday. Call me Anthony lol !!!

  5. Rage. They are a great broad heads knock on wood never lost a deer or had one run more than maybe 110 yards max. They shoot like field tips and you can find them all over. not to mention the blades are super easy to change. Can't go wrong!!

  6. A lot of times with shoulder shots the arrow breaks and a small part of it will stay in the deer. Did you follow the shot threw?  Take the time till the morning to re think the shot and the movement of the deer right after. Not finding not even a drop of blood is weird even with a poor/shoulder shot. Are you sure you hit the deer? Do a smaller grid search and try to find the arrow if you cant find blood. The arrow will tell a lot.

Good luck get right on it early the coyotes don't waste anytime.

He just posted that he only draws 50lbs and you recommend one of the largest diameter heads on the market? Not wise.

50 pound pull is fine for a Rage 2 blade. There is a diamond razor edge that gets used at camp with a 50 pound pull and it works like a charm. Rage leaves massive wounds pulling a little lighter would be all the more reason to use the most devastating broad head possible!!

Thanks everyone. Looks like 3 blades are out. I'll check the 2 blade designs, they have 3 or 4 different ones.

Rage extreme 2 blade. You will love them. They have never failed me. They come with a practice tip and that's cool but they also shoot like field points

Have a half acre in Brassica planted-need to plant an acre of oats this weekend. September, time to bush hog the fields. Check stands in October (don't bow hunt). Sight guns in early November

Oh, I better buy a license!

No bow?  What a long wait for the action. Got my tags and hit the spot I want so it was a win, win.

Put up a ladder stand on Sunday and also set a ground blind near a  throw and grow plot. Did some shooting from the stand and will need to clear some more shooting lanes. Im thinking it will be a later season spot...mid November..generally alot of scrapes around the area. The ground blind is the opening day spot. Been shooting the recurve a bit and now will tune up the broadheads.

How did the throw and grow plot work out? This is my first year trying it I found a spot that I wanted to do something quick at and figured that was my best bet.

  11. Start with the basics. Look for the piles of poo and tracks in the mud/dirt. I wouldn't worry about rubs yet. Find were their food sources are. There has to be a transition point from bedding to were they eat. If you have a trail camera that's a good place to put it. In the hardwoods look to see is there's any Oak trees as they produce acorns and they are a hot spot for early hunting. Good luck check it out always a ton to learn on a new piece of hunting land.
