  1. Took 4 sets gave up a 10pt lead in the 4th set and finally won it 26-24 to take the title.
The other team is great this is 2 years in a row both teams competed for the title. They got it last year and now it’s with us.  Both programs are strong all the way to 7th grade so this won’t be the last time they meet up.

    Congrats!!!!

  2. why? have you ever had it? You can get it tested pretty easily as well.

The mind over matter thing is too strong for me when it comes to food diseases! I swear I get a headache every time I eat a Hudson Striped bass just because of the "only 1 fish meal a month" warning.

  3. This is a pretty good video that basically shows what I do when I don't want to drag the whole thing out. Takes me under an hour in the field.

Cool process - just not sure I could have spent much more time with that gut shot smell then I did already especially at night where a bear has been seen!

Definitely want to try that though

  4. Guess that's the issue. If you know it was gut shot like I did last week, I had to leave it for the "required" 8-10 hours hoping she stayed in the first bed I left her in when i returned. She did stay but at that point I now have no idea how long she been there dead.

Meat has been quartered and in the deer fridge since Saturday. I'm going to let my nose guide the rest of the process starting tomorrow with the processing and freezing.

I usually leave any quartered deer sit for 3-4 days in the fridge and then butcher portions when convenient.

Inner lions have been disposed of already!

  5. What's your plan/process for dealing with gut shot deer on the butcher block to get the most out of a messy situation?

Obviously cutting away tainted meat. What about additional rinsing, soaking or cleaning - how about length of aging(in optimal conditions)?

  7. so many people i run into these days are just well......Dishonest.  Dont get me wrong there are lots of good salt of the earth people but i am so often thinking to myself these days between all the scams, crime, social media mess, carelessness on the road, and then people who are just so self serving i have def become some disillusioned. So many people just out for themselves and think what they do is so important in the world that they are all that matter.  When really it isnt.

I miss accountability. If someone makes a mistake, just own it and make it right. Stop passing the blame or trying to explain it away as something else screwed up.i hate that most among my admins at school. Do your job and I'll do mine. When we mess up, let's figure it out instead of looking to say, not me!"

And yet, When I shot that doe back on Friday, I immediately went to ...must have bumped the sight or hit a branch or she jumped the string or....I F'ED UP AND BLEW A CHIP SHOT!!!!

Kunox and I arrive at 7:30 this morning to track a bear that was shot last night. After a thorough search, the only evidence of a hit was from the field where it was shot. This consisted of hair with skin attached. Zero blood anywhere. I believe this to be a grazing shot. They’re putting cameras out in the area to see if it shows itself.

Kunox and I continued on to our second track. This was a confirmed gutshot from last night. The huntress was after her first deer and wanted it to be with a bow. The doe was shot in a large green field from a ground blind at 12 yards. Unfortunately it was low and the doe walked into the woods. At 11:00 last night, they went in and followed the bloodtrail about 100 yards before backing out. They did a great job of marking blood with toilet paper. Kunox took us to the doe who had gone a total of just under 1/2 a mile. Congratulations on your first deer Heather!

Luna got the call for this one, much to Kunox’s dismay. The hunter shot this doe last night and recognized the dark blood he was seeing as liver blood. He did the smart thing and backed out after a short distance. Luna made a hunter happy after only 400 yards.

Luna also got our last track of the day. This buck was shot this morning in a food plot at 100 yards. The hunter reported hitting it in the shoulder and a front leg wasn’t working after the shot. The best thing to do on a shoulder hit is to push immediately and keep them bleeding. The hunter and his wife (actually his wife, since he’s color blind) followed the bloodtrail for 300 yards, bumping him once. They lost blood at that point. We arrived about 6 hours after the shot. I figured we were going to have a long track in the hilly, rocky terrain before catching up with the buck. Luna locked on immediately, pulling hard the length of the track. We got to the last blood which was marked with an orange glove, and I marked it on the gps and we continued. 200 yards later we found the nice 8 point dead. It turns out the buck had not been hit in the shoulder. Looked like liver area, angling down through the guts. This really drives home the point that you can’t always believe what you thought you saw! I didn’t stay for the field dressing since I was running late for a birthday party fo

  9. I had a scary one driving my boys to a baseball tourney years ago. Guy was riding my ass in the left lane going a decent number above the limit but I couldn't get right to let him fly by. Eventually I move to the right he guns it then gets in front of me and slows way down. I Pull to the right lane and drive the speed limit which now brings me equal ti him but I just keep my eyes straight but I can just feel him staring and yelling and swerving close. I speed up, he speeds up and passes and slows down...this continues for 10 minutes until he gets bored and speeds away. Boys were quite rattled...as was I.
