  1. my dog walks to my feet and looks at me... I can imagine she says to herself " you know what time it is" she then lays down at my feet while still looking at me and raises her front paw.

I then automatically start scratching her belly... if I stop to soon she takes her leg and pulls my hand back into her arm pit... when I stop she always gives me another look before getting up and walking away.

but of course I cant get her to listen to me consistently for all the dog food in the world.

  2. wife just got into compounds and i got her an infinite edge.

I dont know anything about compounds but i shot it and it seemed pretty smooth and i was spot on my first shot.

she was shooting decent groups at the range right out the box never have done much but watch me shoot my recurve

  3. Everyone i spoke to at one police plaza said either flat out no or didnt know. When i asked about the gov making them legal hunting they said they didnt know about that and told me to speak to the legal department.

Legal told me they couldnt answer my question unless i was a cop.

Called dec and they said cops down here dont know crap. Tokd me i was good but keep the law and my certificate with me.

I keep a copy of the certificate and a blurb about the gov and the law in my case for if i get pulled over.

Kinda feel like im being screwed but im lookin for land upstate and will just keep all my toys up there.

  4. I don't see crossbows hitting Long island. I hunted out there a few times this year and when I leave my spots I sometimes see people walking the trails and some are cool about it.... some were freaked out.

just think a lot of people would be freaked out about it.

now if they allow it later in the season that might be something. but I don't know

  5. Learning from what went wrong here, I will bring my orange vest with me when retrieving a deer on public land.

My question is, should I put in on me or the dead deer or get a second one for both of us?

I would say both, kinda sad but I also like the idea of painting my cart orange. though I think that's overkill you never can be to careful

  6. Don't take it the wrong way, but unless you're hunting the back 40 or a family farm, the cost of hunting is always going to outweigh the price of meat in a store, after you allow for licenses, gear, travel, fees & taxes (if you own a camp, lease, or belong to a club). I'd tell the wife just be glad you're not golfing.

Most money i spent this year was on my wifes xbow and gettin her hunting stuff.

Last year was my first year. This year is hers. The only thing i spent money on was tolls and gas which most times gets split two or three ways. That and tags.

I personally dont spend to much on wants. If i get lucky enough to fill my freezer i would save quute a bit of money. I dont need to but i like to offset my costs

And mind u venison is expensive as heck. When i didnt get a dear last year i found a place that sells it for like 10 or 20 a pound. Free deer savees money

  7. I spend a tremendous amount of money on hunting last year telling my wife i will make it up on the money we save on beef.

Ate tag soup and she didnt let me hear the end of it.

This year she makes apoint of reminding me.

Every time i step in the woods im feeling the i gotta get at least one to shut her up. I agree with stubby. Dont make no sense to give money away to uncle sam for nothin

  8. My wifes Parker X Bow was delivered yesterday afternoon. I am going to shoot it for now. Its a nice little pig sticker and seems great for using while recovering from shoulder surgery. I should be a sight to behold, carrying a pink camo cross bow. I have two 4 day weekends coming up at hunting camp. We are getting close!!!

I made sure to not get my wife the pink camo xbow because i knew i was gonna want to use it. Is that wrong?

  9. i use a hip quiver... hold 8 arrows, 6 for deer 1 for turkey and 1 for small game. not sure how your quiver caused you to cut your hand?

Not so much the quiver i guess but the habits i got from usin the quiver.

Always keep an arrow knocked or lay it down near me. This day i had it in my mouth while in stand breakin branch and the branch broke on the pull an slammed into broadhead.

2 inchs down and i woulda slit my wrist.

Looked at the quick detach and goin with kwikee combo 4 arrows. But will keep it on and shoot

And yup. I have a new respect for broadheads. Didnt feel a thing but presur. After the shock i was quite amazed.

  10. I find it odd that the guy who printed the article knew this would blow up, yet he chose to put this kid out there for people to attack..while a nice trophy, I think protecting our children should come first.

he wanted the attention, there is no reason that photo should just be in someones family album or hanging on their wall.

whats the point of putting it out there when you know what will come of it.

  11. Stabbed myself in the hand after finding Deer shangrala, they were all over the place. set up my stand then 20 feet up in the air I find out just how sharp I got my zwickey deltas, I must say they are very sharp indeed and opened a hole in my hand that didn't stop bleeding for most of the day. (3 Stitches)

So after this experience I am trying to figure out the best way to keep my broadheads safe from me.

I shoot recurve and always thought keeping them on a bow quiver would throw off my shot giving me more weight on the bow. currently use a hip quiver which I love but after evaluating my setup while climbing down a tree with one hand and getting all my gear packed up for a mile hike. im thinking it might be better to keep them in the quiver on the bow till its time to shoot.

Im torn between my need to shoot at squirrels when im bored and getting a 3 arrow quiver because its light. just curious if anyone shoots recurve with a quiver on if it makes a big difference.

next week im taking out my wifes xbow if my hands not better, she thinks im nuts.

Oh and thank goodness I have a decent first aid kit, gauze bandage rolls ROCK
