Forgot my sweatshirt it's getting a little chilly.

All I've got time for today is an afternoon hunt.. Hopefully something comes walking through with his head down.. Sitting on a nice big rub line.

Only day to hunt this week and I'm sweating in this tree.. Also got to meet my local Forest Ranger on the way in.

So I had to choose either hunting today or Thursday.. I picked Thursday hoping the cooler air will get them moving a little more..

Been sitting for 3 hours to get settled in for the next 30 minutes.

I had 3 small bucks come in last night right at dark. 2 of them were pushing each other around. They were pretty rambunctious. I never got a good look at them. 1 was at least a 6 pointer. It's great to see some action on the first day. Maybe I'm gonna have to go higher up the mountain to see them earlier in the afternoon.

At about 4 I had a deer coming straight at me. As he got closer I saw 2 pretty tall spikes. I didn't pick up the binoculars because I had just assumed he was a spike when he was walking. By the time he was close to me I saw a tiny fork and some decent brow tines. Because I hunt in an antler restricted wmu I was sitting down and the bow was on the hangar. Once I realized he was legal and I tried to move he was staring right at me. Busted. So he ran about 40 yards and then wandered off.. The good thing is right before dark I saw 2-3 really nice bucks together that just wouldn't get close enough.. Tried grunting first and they didn't even look up from eating. Then I hit the bleat can and still no reaction.. Now I know that they are out there, going to climb a different tree and closer to the runway they used and hope for the best. I was out yesterday and saw 4 different bucks and they all were more interested in eating than they were anything else. The first buck came through at about 4 and grazed right past me, did not care for the doe estrus I had out at all. Walked right by. The other 3 were together right at dark and grazed through the field eating. I tried grunting them closer for a shot and they completely ignored me. This is in 3k. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
