This isn't our new land. This is our old spot, that used to be 8 acres but now only really 1 spot to hunt on 3 acres because of new construction and the sale of bordering land. While there's only 1 spot left to hunt on these 3 acres it does border hundreds (if not thousands) of woods that we can't go on. I hadn't shot a buck on this land since 2012 when I started passing up anything less than a 6, so maybe several years of no bucks killed is why there are several good ones running around.

just goes to show you that passing up smaller bucks does have its benefit, may take a few years but it will pay off in the end.  props to you and your pops for being able to stick to it without killing a buck for years.  i know im going crazy not killing one for the last 5 years.

1040am, Dad just saw a real big 6pt cruise by at 70 yards. in 50+ years of hunting for him, this is the most amount of buck activity he has ever seen. I tagged out opening day of xbow so I haven't see any of it. I told him maybe he should just stay out of the woods till Saturday (gun opener)?

this new land you guys got seems to be pretty plentiful with game, if hes seeing activity i would stay at it

  3. Back in 3s... lost a stare down with a doe on the walk in. Drew back on her at 25 yards but shot never presented from the ground. Access is the toughest part about this spot. Can't seem to get in without deer already being there

  4. been hearing reports of good amounts of chasing all over the westchester area, some wood patches get it more than others so it may be hit or miss, they are on their feet during the day time tho.  Buddy this morning hunting in 3S said his resident doe with 2 fawns was absent this morning and the 2 fawns where feeding alone.  Some breeding is taking place.  Other buddy watched a buck breed a doe in front of his stand last weekend.

Have to go to DC this weekend.  Think i'm going to go into work late for the next 3 working days and hunt 6:00am - 8:15am and get into the office at 930.   I feel like the mornings are on fire in Westchester.

I've been after this 8 ptr on my buddies property for the last 3 seasons ( 5 1/2 year old this season) that I named "Thor".  Cams showed that he only came out 3 times in daylight last year and so far once this season.  I have a feeling he's beded down infront of my stand right now. :mda:

your soft, who goes to DC when the RUT IS ON!!!! Tell your sister the rut only comes once a year and youll take a plane out after LOL

A thumb release to my shooting to another level so I started hunting with it too. I love not having a release on my wrist. As stated though it's not a mid season move8e205bd55f68ef661bd8faa19699d812.jpg

second this the thumb release made my grouping much better and not having a release to worry about banging into anything on the stand or blind is a great piece of mind.

  7. a buddy of mine had a friend kill a nice 8 on opening weekend right at the start of the peninsula, like they said go in deep right now, Look for oaks dropping acorns, rubs and scrapes started popping up last week in westchester in my area.  the watershed property in putnam isnt bad but it gets alot of pressure.  put in the time and you will be rewarded.
