  1. This pic shows the odd tail and short front legs. It's tail is extreamly long and almost tubular like a dog rather than flat and fanned out like you would expect.
  2. The rear leg looks funny because it was. The deer had short front legs, very large rear hips, a longer than normal tail and when i gutted it the intestines were grossly deformed. I didn't notice all this before i shot her but it was very noticeable after.
  3. I had a couple of different contractors at the house today to give quotes for a job and both had a very negative response to my Piebald mount. One was a hunter and the other was not, they both felt that they are to beautiful to shoot and one of them insisted that it is bad luck. So the question is……Would you?
  4. Thank you. I couldnt be happier, its been a long time since I have gotten that excited about I deer that I have taken. ( my sons harvests are a different story). She will be proudly displayed in our home.
  5. Wow, whats with the insults? wnybuckhunter not cool. I didnt think I was spouting off at the mouth, or claiming to know things others dont, just voicing my thoughts and experiences. It sounds like your just a sour man. Joining was my mistake. To the rest of you, good hunting. Im done with this, if I wanted to argue I would save it for people against hunting. Not my fellow hunters. See ya.
  6. The most important thing I wrote was " I dont know". we really dont see many deer with less than six points anymore, they are a year and a half old, only 110-125 lbs. The subject is "does antler restrictions work" and for us the answer is yes, we shoot and see more mature deer since we stopped shooting the little ones. As far as how genetics works?????? People do breed does with breeders bucks to get a better fawn so there is something to it. Im not saying we changed the genetic makeup of the wild herd, I love to hear from anyone why this has happened. As fun as it is to talk about, all I really care about is that our herd is healthier, we are happier and are having a blast watching things get better year after year.
  7. I dont know?????? All we can assume is that if a doe is bred by a bigger older buck its fawn will be bigger and have a better rack. It not so different from a short man having short sons amd a tall man having tall sons. I dont know the answer but we really dont see many spikes or fours anymore.
  8. It works. We have a number of local farms on board and even with lots of people on the borders shooting little bucks, in 7 years our 1st year deer have gone from spikes and fours to sixes and eights. Our two year olds are 80 to 100 inches and there are four and five year old deer getting shot every year now. In the past these deer would be shot once every four or five years. It works, Penn is proof!
  9. She was only 75lbs with short legs and what seamed like a very long tail. we guessed her to be 2 or 3 years old so it would be safe to say that she wasnt the healthiest deer in the woods. She tasted fine!
  10. Llama, that's a new one. LOL. I am getting a full body mount done. She will be laying down with the habitat being snow with scattered brown beech saplings and leaves.
  11. Thanks Doc. The goat thing keeps coming up. Your right about making a great mount. Thanks again.
  12. Took this piebald during the early muzzleloader season near Saratoga.
