  1. Yes I agree with you it can not be a statewide regulation. There are some WMU''s however where it may help.
  2. AHH! Yes I apologize I meant for this to be WMU Specific if it was an option. Not required for the whole state. Sorry for the confusion
  3. I wish DEC would go to implementing check stations and require all hunters to check deer in when they have harvested one. By doing this they could implement an earn a buck strategy that requires hunters to harvest one doe before being given a tag for a buck. I know many hunters who will pass on every doe they see because all they want to kill is a buck.... A prime negative example of this is my Grandfathers farm. Every year him and my uncle are given 3 dmps each and yet neither of them take a doe. This has been going on over the past 10 years and as the years went by the deer heard on this piece of property exploded to a point where we were seeing 20 - 30 deer each sit, all of which were bald, every year I filled my doe tag for muzzleloader and for bow but my efforts were futile as harvesting two doe out of such a large population did nothing to slow the herd growth, last year we were hit with a really hard winter and as an effect of this I have not seen a single deer on this property, the overcrowding helped to clean out all of the food sources for the most part, with an early snow covering the ground deer had a harder time getting to food and most died due to starvation. Had we had an earn a buck program this situation would have never happened.
  4. first light do you need a new friend? Haha nice meat pole man, hope you left some for next year
  5. Good shooting! I too hunt Washington county and niice mature deer are few and far between with young spikes and basket racks making up the majority of the deer I see. Very seldom do I see a buck with the mass that one has. Good work man

  7. Thank You that is the kind of information I was looking for Any recommendations as to any WMA's I might see some movement in?
  8. Yes in my experience the biggest deer I have killed I have walked up on while bedded in swamps. I am not against going farther west if you have any suggestions. Thanks
  9. Hey Guys New here, I typically hunt Washington County on approximately 150 acres of land with my father and brother, The last couple of years the landowner has been allowing more and more people to hunt this parcel which has lead to less and less deer sightings. This year we have seen 0 deer for 50 man hours in these woods. Also these guys are starting to do drives every day through this patch of woods. Also they will shoot anything they see as someone in there party usually has a doe tag which leads to buttons spikes and young bucks being taken. So to the subject line we are looking to travel this weekend or next to an area that has a decent deer population and a chance at a decent buck. Onondaga county is about 2 hrs from my home in Queensbury NY and I know there are typically some bigger bucks taken out of the western New York State. The three WMA's I know of are Hamlin Marsh Three Rivers Cicero Swamp Judging by Lay of the land and surrounding terrain which one of these wma would you focus your one day hunt on? Im not asking for specific locations just recommendations on which WMA to go to. Any help would be appreciated guys PM me if you must Thank You
