I am still a newbie on this site but i have been a follwer for awhile. It is great to be among others who share your same passion.
Yesterday afternoon my uncle passed away shortly after firing at a deer. He was found slumped under his tree after what is assumed to be a heart attack. Shortly after shooting his partner called him and got no response. That's when he went to look for and found my uncle.
My uncle had a passion for hunting that stretched decades. He server his country through vietnam as well as serving his community as a police officer. I cant put into words his devotion to hunting everything and anything that moved. I will not get into the deep emotions I am dealing with personally as well as empathetically for my father. However, I thought that I would mention this on a hunting forum where other's with the "fever" would appreciate it. So as the title says please pour one out in his memory . . . . and remember him as a devoted member of our club.
thank you

i am not certain about being a felon but I know that when purchasing a ML your not required to get a background check or for that matter be escorted out of the store (in the case of a big box store i.e. Dick's)

New guy here
but I had to weigh in on this one. I think what you did was the right thing to do and would do the same myself.
Opening day observations
in Deer Hunting
Posted
First shot was 6:50 and I was surprised at that it has been 6:30 in past years. I always take a mental note of it. As for shooting it was a regular opening day for my area in 9N. The fellas in the land next to the state land I hunt had pretty good string of shots fired from sunup till 9:30 ish. Shots were sparse the rest of the day. I got a doe at 11:30 due to other hunters with less patience then me who leave the woods or walk around. Thanks guys - i used to hate those guys but it seems every season I see a lot of deer during lunch hour.
As far as seeing deer on cars I think that big pick up trucks, mini vans, and SUV's are hiding them for us to see. I own a diaper wagon and any deer I shoot goes in the back (on a tarp of course). I saw a lot of deer at the processor yesterday morning.
