Just looked at the HF. I'd be cautious. No mention if 720p or 1080p. I wouldn't go with anything less than 1080. I want to read the plate# or see face clearly at a longer range.
If you open the quickstart manual, it says this:
• Camera Recording Resolution will be set to 1920 x 1080, FPS will be 15, and Bitrate will be 4096

That Night Owl system has some pretty bad reviews.
Anyone have any experience with the system that Harbor Freight sells?

I'm offended. You're supposed to say Native American.

I may be reconsidering this gathering...put your shirts on, shave your hair, shake hands like a human....
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAs my secretary would say... Right?
FWIW, I wear a black long sleeve pullover, blue jeans and cowboy boots 24/7/365. And a cowboy hat when I go outside. And I shake hands, with men and women. I learned very early life to always keep your boots on, because you never know when the cops might show up and you might have to run. (You can substitute DEC or ATF for cops.)

You might write to the school and ask for some references and testimonials from students and/or parents. From what I understand it's an excellent school that was founded in the mid-1800's, though I have no personal experience with it.
At this point in time with the heavily Liberal public education system, K thru 12, Hillsdale is almost a remedial education.
Totally agree. We will likely connect with them this year, and arrange a visit.

I don't understand why it's the universities place to stress conservative or liberal ideas to the students .
Well, yeah. But colleges around the US obviously do. Some are Christian schools, that stress Christian values. Quite a few are known to be blatantly left wing and always have been. These days, most US colleges are very left leaning. You read constantly about conservatives being treated badly at these schools. I know my son would not be happy in such a place. Even our local high school drives him nuts, as the teachers constantly deride conservatives (the day after the 2016 election, the principle came on the intercom and said "today is a very sad day in America"). He has very strong conservative (and Christian) views - these are his own views, he is not adopting those of me or his mother. So I have in mind at least visiting some of the smaller, openly conservative schools with him, to let him decide.

My first question would be why in heck would you contribute to a place you admittedly know nothing about.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkFair question. Perhaps I overstated it - I do know a fair amount about the place. What I don't have any experience with, is the campus, the feel of the place as a student. I guess that's more what I was asking about.

Peekskill Brewery is fun but can be crowded and very noisy. In the summer you can sit outside and avoid some of the insanity. Not so much in Feb. Love the place but probably not great for a group meeting. Just my 2 cents...

As my kids are getting closer to college age (14 and 16), I'm looking around carefully. The environment on most US college campuses these days is, to my thinking, horrible. My dad (80) has been a contributor to Hillsdale for years, just because. I have been, too, for a few years now. Based in Michigan, it is a college that stresses conservative values, education around the US governmental system, the US Constitution, etc. A rare kind of college, from what I can see. Also have lots of (free) tutorials, live stream events or whatever you call them, including sort of "online courses" on the Constitution.
https://www.hillsdale.edu/academics/free-online-courses/
They send out a monthly called Imprimus, which I get, apparently because I've made modest contributions.

My question is, anyone know anything about this place? My daughter is a lefty hippie type, but my son is a very conservative young man. This might be a good option for him. But other than their web presence and a few interactions, I really don't know much about it. Wondering if anyone here does.
TIA,
jm

Shortly after we were married, my wife and I stopped at a buddy's house, and he had a red fox mounted in the seated position, with its tail wrapped around front and a rabbit or something in its mouth. She thought that was really cool and asked me to get her one. It has taken quite a while, but look what showed up tonight, 5 minutes before the end of legal daylight. My brother-in-law volunteered a bantee rooster for it's mouth. This will probably be the best Christmas ever for her, with a freezer full of venison, topped off by this pretty red.
If you can get that done by Christmas I'd like contact info for your taxidermist.

I bought my girlfriend 2 nice dresses, sports bras, shaker bottles for her workout supplements, an electronic frother for mixing the protein, tea, and couple of hair products.
You're gonna ruin it for the rest of us.

We each agree to buy something we want, wrap it, put it under the tree, and act surprised when we open it.
Christmas is about the kids. Mostly. But the above does give me license to buy something I want..

Hey guys, can I come? I live in Westchester but have a place in Greene and back and forth all the time. Anywhere from White Plains to Catskill is good for me. Be fun to have some kind of activity associated with it. Fly fishing lessons would be fun. Maybe we can get Orvis to sponsor....

I had one that I poured clorox on a couple of times and let it sit outside. eventually the skin fell off.

Ha! Pretty funny. I once had a girl give me a somewhat similar ultimatum. I went out and bought a sailboat, and named it "Her-Ring". It didn't go over well.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a god damn raccoon. I hate the damn things. When we bought our house in Westchester, there were tons of them on the property. One night we counted 32 sitting up on the rocks on the hill behind the house (like 100 feet away from my back door). About six families. Smelly, disgusting, flea-ridden rodents, who poop everywhere and raid your garbage. Took me several years to eradicate the little bastards. And of course, since it's Westchester, that did not involve the use of (normal) firearms. But I will not be deterred! Neighbors even called DEC on me once, claiming I was cruelly killing the varmints. (The DEC guy rolled his eyes and told them I was doing nothing illegal.)
Eat them? I think I'd rather starve. And I'm no prude, I'll eat squirrel any day.
