  1. I thought it was illegal to take the rack? Can anyone confirm?
  2. I got 426. I never did it before. Do you think I will get our for opening week?
  3. My buddy and i have been hunting an area filled with rubs and scrapes. We have been hunting it hard too. Put a lot of hours in and then last weekend we find this guy dead, just off the road where I park my truck. Such a cool and unique rack. he was no monster but he had dark horns and he was really tall and his main beams were bladed instead of round. He even had some palmation, not to mention the little crab claw on his main. He was a real beauty. So sad to see him go out like this. I hope his dad is still in the woods. I know its not a great pic but can anybody guess how old they think this guy was? Im just curious. I guessed 2 1/2.
  4. How do you get your hands on a tax map and does it tell you the name of the owner. I didnt think it had that information?
  5. just read it on the other post. Cool deer man and great story. Congrats.
  6. So what happened to the pics and story man?
  7. First year I actually drew a number instead of going on stand by. I got number 426. Does anybody know if this is good? Any idea what day this type of number will get me? I am hoping at least opening week. What do you guys who have done it before think?
  8. Someone once told me that you can hunt any stretch of woods that is not posted provided you are not within 500 feet of a dwelling. Is this true?
  9. Ok so all i hear about is "the field" by Grumman. I hear there are lots of deer and big bucks there. I have heard both that you CAN and CANNOT hunt there. I have also been told that lots of big bucks have been spotted by the "power lines". Does anybody know if where exactly these areas are and can we hunt them?? Thanks
  10. Assuming it would NOT be stolen, has anybody here ever used there climber kind of like a lock on stand and left it in the woods. I mean have you ever put the climber up and then left it there and just used screw in steps to get too it. Is it too dangerous?? I know this may seem like a dumb question but i have always hunted on the ground and I am just starting to use treestands.
  11. OK well you see what I have to trade so let me know what you would like to do and we can make it happen. Thanks again
  12. Sounds great. The issue is that I really do not have much cash and that why I am looking to incorproate a trade. What kind of stand and how much? Thanks so much
  13. If you are in Long Island we can even meet up to view and exchange items. I have Bushnell rangefinder (I believe its the yardage Pro but i will double check.) - used it twice so its practically brand new. I hunt in very thick cover and I am lucky to get a 20 yard shot max. really dont need the rangefinder. I have 2 brand new never used handheld GPS Units. Magellan Explorist 200 and a Garmin etrex This may sound silly but I also have a $25 gift certifcate to a local archery shop so if you want to add something that i dont have but you need let me know and i will get it and add to the item or items above. Maybe a pack of broadheads, a dozen uncut arrows, a grunt tube rattle bag??? Whatever you may need. Let me know and lets put a deal together. Please PM Me. Thanks Frank
  14. I hunt out in Otis Pike and some other ares in Manorville and I have an important question? As it gets colder and the rut ends I know that food sources are the place to be but besides acorns what do the deer in Long Island eat. I know of a few fields but they look like they are just dried up grass?? I always see deer on TV feeding in fields but those are always lush green food plots. Do deer feed on that dry hay looking grass in the fileds here? So what should I be looking for as a food source for the late season her in long Island? Thanks In Advance, Frank
