  1. It could be yrs before you see a buck that meets the requirements..whats the difference
  2. I still say a 3 yr no buck rule would be better..yearlings will be 4 by the end of 3 years.. and 2=5 and so on
  3. This comin from the guy who likes the taste of bitter old deer...if you are what you eat..what does that make you..bitter and old? I would love a glass house..you could see me givin you the finger when you go by.
  4. I know you are hunting geniuses..but try going a couple pages in a thread without sayin anything..itll be here tomorrow..no rush to prove what idiots you are
  5. What was your first antlered deer? Do you still have it?
  6. Congrats on the 1000 posts antler...guess if i wanna be a hero..i gotta put my 2 cents in on every comment too..
  7. Look at you antler man...bout dam time you tried becoming part of a solution than the problem..soundin a little like me..just on yer side
  8. Alternate everyother yr between bow and shotgun seasons..you dont bow hunt..oh well..and vice versa..id also like to see a season you hunt th whilst still in velvet..100 pgs here we come!! Usually when i chime in its good for at least 2 pgs of name callin...hahaha
  9. I guess being educated on deer age or restrictions doesnt excite me...ive shot good enough for me deer..and i live with no regrets for it...i like being out and about on my postage stamp ..thats what excites me..always a new experience..always a "dont do" to try to do..i successfully hunt by my standards..if a restriction was in place i would comply..however..no need just yet
  10. Dude..thank you..thats a start..i like a no buck rule for 3 yrs..and people hunting after that will have an easier time passing on young bucks..
  11. You seem like a smart fellow..pretty sure you see what im getting at..like i said..its a suggestion to an alternative to ar..i dont see any other suggestions ..so all of these highly educated people on here have no other suggestions than AR ??
  12. Ok..what kind of livestock do you have that you grow food..that attracts deer to a certain area that would otherwise be dormant?
  13. Id have to say the state may lift an eyebrow or two at the chance to scoop more $..ar does not present that..lets say 50 000 feeders get placed with a 100 dollar prmit plus the tons of feed sold per yr..which like i said could be state controlled to have ingredients to prevent cwd..
  14. AR seems very one sided to me..sided towards rack hunters..which if thats what you do then so be it..however i believe one alternative could be the feeders...bare with me...a feeder permited by the state with a 150 yd radius no shoot zone set up by the dec and the permit holder could buy feed provided by the state only..no additives..only health promoting feeds..creating jobs and generating money for the state. Meat hunters would see larger deer body wise and rack hunters would see an increase in total headgear..even at 2 yrs old which is still a good meat hunters deer age..if i meat hunt i would want to fatten up my bounty..if i look for racks im sure after a short time deer age and growth will move up with good health levels and less food finding stress...winter kills..lime and wasting disease prevention..etc..possibly keeping deer out of the road by placing feeders where deer naturally cross rds to feed...(may be tryin too hard for that one) I dont see feeders being that bad when people are just growing food plots basicly for the same reasons..placing a feeding area where it wasnt there naturally..this way could scratch alotta backs if done right..like i said..just lookin at some alternatives..heres a poll question..if this were proposed..would you buy in?..
  15. Seeings how this is all hypothetical anyway lets say the state comes forward and ends the debate by saying no...what could..IF ANY..there be some alternative to this debate...take a night..throw it down later..i would like to see what comes up...or is this the only option..
  16. Ok..isee where you got that..i had meant 3 8 pts in 3 yrs..2 nice racks and this yrs small 8 that caught me with an itchy trigger...and several that had been passed on..but all had good sized bodies..and as far as the headhunting..thats basicly what im gathering...antler restricting is the only way here..no alternatives..all cause people who have "done the research"..and now are experts..i would love to do what they do in texas and sit and wait for a monster at 200+ yds..but i cant bring myself to believe thats hunting..but yhats what some like..and im ok with that..closing the distance is what i like..and i beg a pro to count antlers..draw and shoot in a 20 second span..no treestand..all ground work..but how i hunt is how i hunt..this site has had a large roll in reevaluating myself and i find myself asking what the overall point of this restriction is..really..and is it ethical..not only to this thread..but even my own goings on
  17. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....same cooks...different kitchen...this thread would be 10 pages if you wouldnt show me what i wrote after i wrote it cause i wrote it and i know what i wrotr...and then tell me to look back at what you wrote..showing someone else what they wwrote....
  18. So unless im headhuntin..i have no buisness being in the woods...but thats not whats giving hunters a bad. Name
  19. Na..im good with all this research..ill take woods smarts over book smarts any day..ive gotten 3 8pts 3 yrs n a row..and im not seein it get "worse" anytime soon...
  20. If there was a group of deer standing at a feeder..i could compare and take the biggest..oldest deer.....if you are so hard up for monster bucks..not shootin em and feeding both would be quicker than waiting years for restricting to take shape..
  21. Yeah..i expect that reaction..but how different is food ploting..or "attractants"..just a suggestion as an alternative to the topic..
  22. There are better ways than restricting to grow the deer..like i had in my plan..feeders that feed all yr..and also promote health..along with antler growing nutrients
  23. Ahahahaha....what books are you educating yourself with...but wouldnt you agree that it has at least 75 percent to do with it..of course a yearling may have a tough time growing a rack...
