That sounds fantastic!   Took a cooler with to load up for return trip home I’d hope   What is beach bread though ?

We always bring home some cod and local scallops. Unfortunately though the cod out here isn't local anymore - overfished. However they fly in a plane every day from Iceland to distribute to the fish markets. Way fresher than can get at home. Beach bread is a loaf of French bread sliced lengthwise, spread with garlic butter,  mozz and cheddar cheese - basically cheesey garlic bread.

  2. I have yet to find a color Senko that doesn't catch fish!!

But 'Baby Bass'.......is up there with my favorites!

I think grampy nailed it. Senkos just catch fish....Staying in a hotel next door to a Cabelas tonight. Might have to pop over and pick up some 'baby bass'

It is great having the kids but it cuts into my hiking and fishing time. They just want to swim lolol. Tomorrow we go to great escape and then maybe North Pole . Maybe . Any one on here from up this way??

I don't live in the ADKs (live in Albany) but I have been spending time up there my whole life. Speculator, Upper Saranac, Tupper Lake, Paradox Lake, Schroon Lake. These days, my inlaws have a camp on Lincoln Pond and my parents have a seasonal campsite at Daggett Lake. Great Escape is a lot of fun and North Pole is pretty cool for younger kids. For a few years my daughter was convinced it was where Santa spent his summers. What lake are you staying? Looks really nice.

My nephew uses the O rings but he also likes the blue Senkos best so his opinions are immediately called into question

If I could only have one color senko, it would be black with blue flake.

I rig the Senko wacky style and lost at least nine while catching a dozen or so bass Saturday. Do they hold up better for you the way you rig them? Most of the time they go up the line and then tear loose on a jump

I do think they hold up better rigged weedless. Besides getting beat up by fish, I have problems with the wacky rigged worms ripping while casting if trying to cast too hard. With the weedless rig, you can let it rip and not have to worry about it. They do get beat up at the eye of the hook and where the hook enters the worm. If it gets a little ragged, sometimes I will bite 1/4" or so off the end of the worm at the eye and re-rig with the point of the hook farther back into "solid" worm. We use 2/0, gamakatsu, EWG, offset shank worm hooks.

  6. Very cool! I have always wanted to take the trip down and play that course. I did go to the US Open there in 2009. It is a BIG course. They do not allow carts. Be prepared to do a lot of walking.
