I don't know how many points he was.....He was at least a giant 8 with G2's that I am guessing were at least a foot tall. He was big enough that I instantly started shaking and said holy $%&*! The biggest deer I have ever seen in the woods is the 9 pt in my avatar...I said Holy $%&* when I saw him too....I think this one may have been even bigger, I am pretty sure he was taller....It was an awesome encounter...

Awesome! And the best part is... even if you didn't see him.... it was a great day in the Woods!

This summer I pulled my 308 R700 VTR apart and sent it out for Cerakote, but haven’t put it back together yet, as I havent found just the right stock for it. I decided I would use my 6.5 Grendel for deer season this year. It should be great to carry, even with the scope it’s super light weight and pretty compact. I’m waiting for the Hornaday 132gr SSTs to come in so I can get it dialed in.

But.... that is a "Scary" looking Gun!  And it should be Banned!  :  Libs

  3. I worked downtown.... Broad Street to be exact. Once the second plane hit and the lights went out for a bit... We knew it was terrorism..... We had to wait out the two collapses.... and could feel the rumble.... couldn't see or Breath outside... once it cleared up a bit some of us Jersey guys walked to the Seaport and manged to hop on a police boat to get evacuated over to Liberty State Park.  Not a fun day.... A day I will Never forget.

The one part I remember most is the Smell..... I never smell it anywhere anymore.... but if I do... it will bring me back. The smell of Burning Metal and concrete... That's the only way I can explain it.

Just spoke with the ECO. He said no laws were broken from the DEC standpoint but he advised to call 911 immediately if the guy is even the slightest bit aggressive or threatening at our next encounter. The State Police will be there quickly he said. That is not a ECO matter.

He then explained in detail how to post the property correctly so they can be charged even if they trespass, and to call him immediately if we have pics or catch of him or his son taking any game across the line, or even trespassing if we wanted to go that far.

Nothing illegal about having a gun on you in the woods at any time in NYS for those who are using the term brandishing. Acting in a threatening manner is another story he said.

So this is a wrap for now, going to finish posting this weekend and hope for the best, but will be very clear about respecting the lines when I see him next

Yes, as a landowner of 50 acres, I think he'd be able to get a DMP there.  For those who own less or don't own at all, they will not have an easy time getting a tag.  Years ago the Catskills were so much more heavily hunted and people were able to get DMP's.  These days there isn't a fraction of the hunters like there once was, yet DMP's are slim pickings.

Exactly... so how does this make sense?

You will never find a true number. I know of 4 new ones that started this year. Four of my top buyers are rich guys down near the city that do not even promote hunts. They are like a rich guys golf club that have 2000 acres fenced and do their own things. Shoot a few 200 inch bucks every year and never have to worry about state laws or tags or anything else for that matter.

Unless things changed, FSW breeds bucks but doesn’t offer hunting. He has said this a few times. He sells them to hunting operations

How can he sell them across State lines?  Or just within State?  Either way..... it's a good way to spread disease!

Well I believe you would be shocked how many deer are taken behind fence. I can tell you that come mid Nov any antlered deer found behind wire is a highly sought after animal. Demand has always trumped supply and grows year after year. And yes when it comes to $$$ it matters. Have you lived in Ny long? The Growth Continue's!423552c4a1e84d054119afd41be13542.jpg

I have been saying on here for years that if one would just do some research they would see it's always been a political disease. Their...States DEC main goal is to rid the landscape of their competitors...ME! And white coats for more research dollars that does not even go to CWD research. Ny used it to close the borders for deer farms bringing in deer from other states. Then they tried to use it to shut down the deer scent business. All with unproven science. Look at how many states no longer even test deer for CWD? Another year or two and it will be a thing of the past. Kinda like Ebola.

Personal experiences always vary. This article is over a decade long look at recovery data using Mechanicals VS Fixed. It's worth the read.

I guess one Question would be.... maybe the guys with Fixed broadheads are just not as skilled hunters or are more Jerky? I mean... this is a set area where you most likely have the Same hunters all the time...
