  1. I carried an 1187 20 gauge first year I tracked. There is no good way to carry a long gun in and out of heavey brush while handling a dog . I carried a glock  21 plus p load with a lazer after that. My choice in revolver would be a super Redhawks convertible 45 lc/45acp. Cheap practice with 45 acp .Enough energy with the 45 lc.Heavey for caliber hard cast bullet.  Probably something 300 plus grains. Looking for a bullet with mass and energy  to pass through  dense  fur  break heavey bone end exit.

  2. Not that I condone shots at longer distances but I have been practicing with my crossbow out to 60 yds. My self imposed limit with my outfit is 35 yds for hunting. Back many moons ago with the verticle  bow use to shoot an 80 yard walk up in field archery. Practice at longer ranges magnifies mistakes and made me a better shot. Same with the crossbow for me . I have heard alot of people talk about how easy a crossbow is to shoot at 100 yds shots . I don't see it . After I sited in I practiced  sitting kneeling off sticks and off hand, and yes even off the garage roof. I think a person with the right said up could take longer shots but I honestly believe the risks out way the rewards for me.

  3. New to crossbow. Trying rage 100gr crossbow broadheads. They shoot well out of my crossbow at targets . I have no experiance with this mechanical for hunting, but have seen alot of deer kills on the tube. Please don't make it a debate of fixed versus mechanical as I don't have time or money to try a different  broadhead this year. Real experience  requested. I will be shooting from a wickedridge invader 4 at advertised 360 fps. 20 inch tenpoint bolts. I happen to have a boar black bear on camera every 3 days or so so there is potential  a shot. He appears  to be 300 lbs or so. Any helpful insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  4. I have trolled Ontario  a few times had some good fishing but fingerlakes are much closer to home sold my boat 8 years ago. So many hobbies  so little time and money... lol

  5.  I flyfish for trout . Go north for steelhead a few times a year.

I have a couple contenders  currently working up loads for 357max. The older contenders had problems with long chambers. I have an encore 15 inch in 308 that's lights out too 200 yds. But I prefer my revolvers.

  6. Hey ,been lurking for a few months decided it was time to go legit. Had some minor issues getting started but I finally got an e mail activating my account.

I have been hunting and fishing NY  36 or so years now. I live in Chemung county and have a small parcel  of land in Stueben .

I use to bow hunt up to 2 years ago until I  injured my shoulder. 2 years of hoping and wishing  I  finally  gave up and bought a crossbow. This will be my first crossbow season. Excited doesn't cover it.

I hunt  regular big game gun with revolvers.  I reload  and my  current favorite is the 480 ruger followed by 44 mag. I apparently  like all guns to start with a 4 however I have been toying with the idea of adding a 5 to the mix.

I have gleaned  alot of info here so  far and hope I can return in kind.
