  1. I screwed up the other night and passed one of my target bucks and didn’t even realize it He broke a couple more tines from the pic below and lost a bunch of weight so I didn’t recognize him until I pulled cards and saw him walking to me on video. I was going back and forth whether to shoot when I saw him in the woods but I couldn’t tell which buck he was and I thought he might be young with how run down he looked so I let him walk. Kinda funny, kinda sad lol. Never had that happen before, might need to get my eyes tested haha. Will have to try my luck on that property again

  2. Soooo close to getting it done on my #1 target tonight. He came out on opposite side of field from me about 600 yards away and I had to watch him feed across with 4 other bucks and a bunch of does for two hours. The bucks briefly disappeared but came back out 140 yards away in some brush just before legal light. Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out which was the deer I wanted to shoot until he decided to take off and chase a doe back to where he originally came out of. I could have taken a chance and guessed but I’m hoping he’s staying back there and I can get back on him late season

  3. Ended up being a good hunt but the big buck I saw earlier didn’t show. Probably should have been more aggressive and still hunted but I got covered in deer and couldnt get out of the stand. Been a long season of cat and mouse and passed a lot of good bucks trying to catch up with one of my shooters. They are on camera frequently and in day light but no consistency to their movement and each have pretty big home ranges. Hopefully get an opportunity at one late season

  4. Really exciting sit so far and not even an hour in lol. Was planning to set up between bedding and a cut corn field but on my way in waking along the field edge I glassed a doe about 600 yards away and right on her tail was a big buck pushing her my way into the woods. Decided to do my hang and hunt right there rather than push in any further and about 5 mins after I got up have a beautiful 3 year old cruise by headed towards the big boy. Hopefully it comes together

  5. Doing and a hang and hunt this morning between cut corn and bedding. I got in a little later than I wanted and could see some bodies moving around while I was setting up. Nothing blew so hopefully didn’t screw this up too badly. Had a few mature bucks cruising last night on camera but all activity seemed to shut down around 3am and don’t think I’ve got a pic of a deer since.

  6. Somehow I missed there was a thread on investments and it’s what I do professionally lol. For any of you guys looking for something more than a quick trade, id take a look at the payment stocks which have got walloped last few months. I like PYPL, FICO, V, and MA in those order for LT plays. My best guess is most of selling over and we grind higher from here… still some pockets of excess but last few weeks knocked a lot of the froth out

  7. Good hunt this morning. Had a really nice up and comer that I hadnt seen since bow pass through dogging a doe. I got blown at several times including on the way in so wasn’t expecting much but ended up being really good movement. I hate getting busted but no way to hunt this spot and not give up something. Will be back this afternoon somewhere.

  8. Cams lit up over night after being dead for last week or so. Probably mixture of late rut and cold front. Hopefully will be a good couple days! December 3rd to the 13th been a consistently good time for me and killed a few bucks either looking for or with a doe. I like quick AM bedroom hunts and getting out early afternoon on transitions to food or food itself. Good luck to anyone still out there

  9. Got it done in Kansas tonight! Was in the game with some megas but wasn’t about to pass this buck at 30 yards broadside on my second to last night. Haven’t taped him yet but I figure at least low 40s and outfitter thinks he’ll run mid to high 40s. This state is wild… 6 people in camp and a 200, 190 and two 140+. Hoping the last two can fill tags tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be back for an afternoon hunt in NY Saturday

  10. Well that’s it for my NY bow season. Was planning on sitting this morning but combination of rain and a hangover kept me out of the woods. First season in awhile I haven’t killed a bow buck but on the bright side I’m off to Kansas this afternoon to try and punch one down there. Hopefully will catch up with one of my NY bucks when I get back. Good luck to everyone the next week! it’s one of my favorite times and usually when I see the biggest bucks

  11.  I’m unfamiliar with how deer leases work.  Shouldn’t there be a provision in the document to avoid such disturbances during deer season?

Some land owners may go for that but the ones I deal with don’t really care and the lease income is 1-2% of the total income they make off the land (ag+timber + solar) so I just bite my tongue and try to stay in their good graces. It’s a tough pill to swallow but if I make too many headaches I risk them saying to hell with leasing

  12. Rolled up to my best lease this morning and found out they are starting to log it today. They aren’t taking a ton of trees but are clearing a lot of the thick bedding I have there which is what makes so good… ugh. Every year one of our leases gets destroyed and it’s always around prime time. Hopefully the landowner will have some sympathy and give us another piece

  13. Saw two different mature bucks cruising at mid day. One above where I was set up, one below. Way too far for a shot. Both hugging thick cover.
Had something happen late this afternoon, that I have never heard before in the deer woods. I was in a hub blind close to thick cover, (notice a pattern here?) when a buck started grunting. And grunting. And grunting! Non stop! For almost 20 minutes! I couldn't see him. But I don't think he was moving, pretty much stationary? No sticks breaking or anything like that. Just non stop grunting! Have no idea whether it was an old or young buck. I've heard tons of bucks grunting over the years. But never like this. For so long. Non stop! And yes, I'm positive it was a buck grunting.
Anyone else ever have this happen?20211109_163715.thumb.jpg.262dca018acf21a7a85462b62f7130bc.jpg
Three doe's out front on edge of thick stuff, before the buck grunting began.
Towards the end I got laughing, thinking this buck will grunt himself hoarse! It ended as abruptly as it started. I estimate he grunted a minimum of 200 times!! Non stop!
    Whatayathink????

My only guess would be tending a doe but I’ve never seen one grunt anywhere close to that long. Maybe rut fried his brain

  14. I just had the toughest past of my career and will probably end up regretting it. I saw antlers 500 yards out on the edge of the neighbors creek bed so I rattled and he came on a string to right under my stand. It’s a buck I know very well and is a big homebody on this farm but not the one I’m after. The two bucks I’m after here have been taunting me and made it personal so I’ve pretty much reserved myself to killing them or nothing else, unless of course a monster surprise buck shows up. Also had another solid buck come out of the creek bed after I rattled but he got distracted on a doe trail before he made it close enough for me to get a better look so apparently some bucks aren’t locked down. Calling it on this sit, gotta get back home for some work calls. Good luck all!
