Brassica plot

Recommended Posts

They started very early this year on my Brassica plot.

Last year, I had plants into Dec left. This year, maybe because of the one or two early frosts, they started early munching...They have pretty much stripped the large plants. I do have a layer of very small plants all around because I got rid of some leftover seed later in the season. I liked the fact that I could feed the suckers late into the winter, if the snow is not to bad. (like last year)

The plot looks much bigger than it is. It is a half acre. Does and Fawns in the night photo, lots of buttons are the fawns this year. Besides a few bucks, that is pretty much the herd in my area. Not a huge population here, just happened to be there all at once. We, (my neighbors and I), know the deer from certain flaws/growths...Always the same ones. They just do a big loop from my place, next door, across the street. Maybe because of no winter kill last year there are more little guys...One doe is with three, two are buttons. Guess she adopted?

Wow, You must have quite a population there. My area is in the woods, not a ton of deer. (sounds funny saying that with a pic of a bunch of deer in it)

Two miles away, in the valley, there are plenty of deer everywhere.

I am not complaining, I like my spot / area..I will work with what I have. Next year I am going to plant on a couple more spots that I have available. That should double it to an acre..
