Rabbit Hunting?

A SWISS hound..??..

That's a new one on me... I love beagles and ALL hounds for that matter...

Educate me on the swiss hound.. I have only ever run rabbits with beagles & Bassets and perhaps a few crosses  of them with something else..

OK... I just Googled Swiss hound and learned something...

Very interesting... Are many people running rabbits with these hounds..??..  Perhaps they are used more for snowshoe hares..??..

Hey pygmy,the swiss hound is a larger dog than the beagle,it has a stonger nose,and does not have a stubborn bone unlike many beagles. That being said,they are a little too big for some areas that have thick briars,but really excel in deep snow and on hare. I ususally hunt onstate prop on the north fork of long island or at gun club

I had Cottontails all over my property through the summer. Now I'm only seeing one or two around. Don't know what happened to them maybe predation by hawks & coyote.

Might be predation,but the cottontails you see during summer feeding in the fields,usually stick to the thickest brush once the weeds dye down and leaves fall,it is survival for them. Where are you located capt?
