Georgetown's surrounding state land

anyone bow hunt the state land around Georgetown, specifically Mariposa and Muller Hill State Forest?  I did some scouting back in August and couldnt believe the sign.  I hunted there Tuesday evening and all I saw was two DEC spraying the trees (almost all of the trees).  I figured I had to have come to the right place seeing that all the land posted getting to the state land was owned by hunting clubs like Bucks Unlimited etc...
