cbx46
Now that deer season is wrapping up for me with only on scheduled shotgun hunt on L.I. coming up and maybe a day or two on standby if I'm lucky. Time to start shed-hunting, scouting, and stand prep for next year. I'm curious who is experimenting with Google Earth/GPS/Smart Phones etc... For tracking and marking deer sign, stand locations, trails, etc.. And what equipment and programs they are using. I have been using Google Earth and over-laying topo maps from mytopo.com, also outlining the property boundries, highlighting exsisting trails, trails used by me, and keeping a hunting log with a placemark for every place Ive taken a stand plus documenting (date/day/wind direction/moon phase/time of hunt/temp/what I saw). I have been doing this on public land that I hunt to learn it the best that I can, not on the property I own b/c that I know that like the back of my hand already. I am just trying to find other members doing similar things to compare how and what we are doing just to try to learn more about this new style of high tech scouting from each other.
